Just some quick impressions. I have both this unit and the pistol grip litheon as well. The electronic clutch will take some getting used to but works well. The articulating head is very cool and allows this to work very nicely with a nut driver set for instance. It is very well made but it is bigger than it looks. Suggest you take a look at one in person before you order it from Amazon. I probably would have passed on it if I did see it first, but now that I own it, I'll keep it. If you are trying to decide between this one and the pistol grip, I'd suggest getting the pistol.

Close, but heartbreaking...

My DeWalt 7.2V driver that I had been using professionally was getting tired and I was in the market for a replacement. As a marine electrician I was often needing to get a tool (and myself) into tight spots so size and flexibility of use was a a key part of the decision. The i-driver promised to be everything my DeWalt was and more: better batteries with faster charge, shorter overall length, multiple angles, advanced clutch, and plenty of power.
br /
br /My actual experience was mixed. I loved it for many of the reasons I expected to and several more. The plastic and rubber casing makes it less stressful to use around high-end finishes that a unit with harder casings might mar. The "soft" (aka "intelligent") screw driving took some getting used to but I actually like it now. Oddly enough it also has enough concentrated weight and solid build to work well as a "coercion" tool in a pinch when I cant reach a mallet.
br /
br /My heart was first broken when I tried to get a 3/8 paddle bit through 3/4" of plywood. The thing has a "feature", independent of the clutch, where it will stall if it thinks it's working too hard. It stalled 3 times before the hole was through. My Dewalt would have done this without thinking. My heart was next broken when I tried to get a better sense of what clutch settings to use. At the high end, there's not much point of the clutch because the tool will just stall out. At the low end, though, the first notch will strip a 1/2 #8 screw in solid mahogany. For the very limited range that the clutch works, it's beautiful. Two more minor annoyances: a) No on-tool bit storage??? b) Actuating the stiff reverse switch often required a shift of hand position around the above-average diameter tool body.
br /
br /Bottom line is that it's a great tool for someone who wants it exclusively for driving larger screws in soft or medium woods and/or drilling pilot holes. If you want something that you can push the limits of or something that will work with finer detail and finishing you will be very disappointed. Bosch is on the right track and I'm hoping the next generation will get it right.

Plenty of power(compared w/ my milwaukee 6546-6 milwaukee cordless screwdriver(2.4 volt-2 sppeds 200 and 400rpm)!!!!!Well balanced and lightweight!!!!!Love the soft start. Pivoted adj. head made getting into tight spots a breeze. Would prefer it to be a little slower. Would like 400rpm(for driving screws) vs the 600 rpm the bosch has. But 600 rpm is better for drilling in tight spots w/ hex shank drill bits. Seems well made. Very pleased w/ it!!!!!UPDATE:10/11/06-Used to remove swing seat from glider to stain underneath seat. Nuts were 1/2" and 7/16". PS10 removed all but 2. Attempting to remove the 2 stubborn nuts resulted in PS10 making a pulsating sound for about 3 seconds and then it shut off.I removed the nuts w/ a rachet(ie they were not so struck that a impact driver was needed-they just were tighter than the PS10 could handle). I spoke to bosch and they said PS10 has a overload protection circuit to prevent motor/battery damage. A little disapointed in raw power but impressed at protection circuit. I guess the 80 inch lb rating is right on the money. Bosch tech support agreed w/ me that bosch went for long run time versus max power. Still love 5 stars!!!!!!

I own this tool. It is unique in its application because of the articulating head. Beautifully made in every way. Highest quality in every way. I compared it with my Dewalt 7.2 volt hand driver. The dewalt is a lot more powerful and can drive deeper. In reality this is of little importance. This tool has plenty of power and be a nice addition to one's tools. Other rt angle drivers cost a lot more and are not as compact.

Gotta agree

I echo most of the previous complaints, with the clutch issue being the most serious IMHO. The power, flexability, batteries are fine. The clutch is a joke, it really has no practical function. This Bosch is getting dusty while my Dewalt 7.2v got two shinny new batteries is doing all that I ask (Except fit in real tight spots)

Depends on your application

I enjoy using this tool and would buy it again in a heartbeat. Having said that, there are a few issues.
br /
br /First the pros: VERY ergonomic, easy to handle and facilitates one hand use. Excellent tool for tight spots. The reverse switch is easy to change with one hand, without looking. Short distance between the handle and the head of the device makes it easy to use; helps coordinate easy driving of screws. All of these benefits make this tool unique and worth owning. Finally, battery life is excellent.
br /
br /Cons: Yes, the clutch is inept. I can't say it is useless, but is close to it. Another dissappointment is the limited power the device has. Other reviewers here are correct--it can't generate enough torque for the maximum clutch setting to be useful. The Dewalt 7.2 is more powerful, no doubt.
br /
br /
br /Bottom line, the utility of the tool does overshadow its limitations of torque and the clutch. This is an outstanding tool for the homeowner, and a nice addition to the toolbox of the professional.

I have been using this daily for 6-7 months now and am still totally satisfied with it. I use it everyday during work. The articulated head allows me to access alot of spots my DeWalt couldn't. It has plenty of torque for me and battery life is amazing. A single charge often lasts me a week. Today it drilled several 3/4" holes with a paddle bit through a 4x4 during a project and showed no signs of weakness
br /
br /At this new lower price I am tempted to buy a few as gifts.

I've had my PS10-2 for a few months now it has been a good addition to my tool inventory. The adjustable head is the way to go. I been able to put this tool into some pretty tight places and it works great. It takes a few uses to get used to the slow start up but I actually like the extra control.

I own many bosch tools and was thrilled when it first arived but was quickly dissapointed anyone who rates this high is paid by BOSCH
br /The clutch settings are so wide ranged and insensitive for example
br /A 1 inch # 6 screw in poplar in # 1 setting will strip out
br /A 1 inch # 12 screw in a 3/4 pine door jamb on # 1 setting will also strip out so what is # one setting good for?
br /It does not have the power for large screws and has no clutch settings for small screws i cannot imanage someone using it on electrical plate screws. I cannot find a comfortable screw use if i did not loose my receipt i would return it and keep my MAKITA

I purchased this because I already owned the Litheon Pocket Driver. I was so impressed with that one, I purchased the I driver hoping it would be as good. While it's a nice tool, it's usefullness is somewhat limited. I haven't found the task that only this tool would work for. I find it a little bulky unbalanced. It is however well made and consider it a quality tool that will last under job site conditions. It seems to stay in my truck as I often reach for the pocket driver instead. I don't regret buying it as I'm sure one day the job will come where only this tool will get it done and I'll be glad I had it on hand.

In my business I use several cordless drills as well as other wood and metal tools. I had been looking at purchasing a right angle cordless drill like the one Dewalt makes. I have used that drill at times and found it to be a little large to get into some of the areas I had and it was not flexable. When I saw the Bosch PS10-2 I knew that must be the one I was looking for. I purchased one and soon after another. It seems that others I worked with would borrow mine and I would have to go looking for it. The battery seems to go and go. It is not very powerfull like the 18 volts screw guns I use but I found that this is a plus. When installing hardware and using pocket screws I could very easly strip the screw or in many cases twist them off. With this tool I can find the correct pressure and set it. When the screw is in correctly the tool stops.
br /
br /I have read other reviews where the user complains about changing the bits, etc. quickly. How many times do you try to pull a bit out of your work and the bit comes out of the tool. This doesn't happen, it is just a pleasure to use the tool. I have found that this tool is in my hand more than any other tool I have. The recharge takes not time at all.

Well, I picked this tool up last week for use on a specific job and it worked very well. I can say that the others that complained about the sensitivity of the clutch were spot on. The lowest setting is too powerful, and the tool doesn't have enough power to need the highest setting. Other than that, the tool is well designed but the acuation of the reversing switch is a little ackward (Bosch if your listening how about a paddle switch that changes direction depending upon which half you depress?). No on-tool bit storage is definately an oversite that should be corrected on a tool of this price. Now all of this sounds negative, but in fact they are fairly minor problems and don't take away from the usefullness of this tool. The battery power is very good and the size while larger than optimum does make the tool comfortable to hold as long as your hands aren't too small. If the reversing switch were of a better design and the tool a little smaller I would give the tool a 5 star rating. I would also have given it a 5 star without the changes if the price were lower by $20 or $30.

I received it as a gift for father's day. The design is well thought out and the power is adequate. It is really difficult to set the lock switch to prevent operation when transporting. The clutch seems not to work on mine, setting it on one still drives a screw and does not engage torque break away. All my other Bosch products I own are second to none and operate as prescribed.

For it's intended purpose it's a nice tool but like others have said, it has some odd features that hurts instead of helps. I scratch my head everytime I press the trigger and have to wait for it to rev up to speed. I guess if you used it a lot you'd get used to it but I have no idea what the point of it is. I also have no idea why they even bothered putting a clutch on it. Why use an 8 position switch for 2 different settings?
br /Last thing is the case. I guess it's better than a bag but a real case would be nice.

I never trust this driver when I use it. Unlike the PS20, which has good power, I am never sure if this PS10 is going to have enough torque it usually kind of doesn't. It's awkward clunky.
br /
br /The electronic clutch is kind of cheesy. It doesn't have the typical clicking of a normal clutch, it just makes a "squealing" sound when it's reached the clutch level, which always makes me feel like the tool is under a lot of stress.
br /
br /The driver is so wide that I can't meet my thumb with any of my fingers while holding it, which means that in order to put it in reverse I usually have to readjust the driver with one hand and push the button in with my other hand. I have done it with one hand, but the balancing act was so ridiculous that I stopped this practice since I could feel I was going to drop it very soon. This is frustrating because I have average sized hands so I feel it should be made for people like us. I am a lefty have accepted that it's a right handed world, but now I'm expected to have novelty sized hands too?
br /
br /It has no LED.
br /
br /I use the PS20 90% of the time this driver gets the left overs, thus if I had to pick one, my choice is obvious. But like many have said before, this tool has it's place I would consider it a secondary must, restricting usage only for tight spaces. I'm glad I have it when I come across these situations.
br /
br /I would also suggest you set aside some 1/4 driver drill bits to go with it. They may cost a little more but like this tool, you'll rarely use them so why not?
br /
br /People, the free Bosch holster that comes with some of these is a must! Don't get these drivers without it!

I bought this to replace an old BD that went through too many batteries. The Bosch LI-ion batteries are great for holding a charge. The tool is big to hold, but MUCH lighter than dealing with a cordless drill. The pivoting head is very handy. I use it mostly as a right angle screwdriver though. My electronic clutch is amazing, with great control, and the soft start trigger works excellent. My only gripe is the physical size (although I have big hands so it's not bad for me) and the lack of place to hold a spare bit. The bit release is great...simple to use and a sure thing with the proper bits. Power is good for driving screws through about #12, but don't try 1/4" lag screws.

I saw the ps10 reviewed in a magazine and was very interested. After purchasing and using now for over 18 months I am extremely happy with this driver. I am an electrician and use it daily on anything from trimming receptacles to hanging pipe/anchors. I have driven screws into lead anchors all day long on a single battery. The clutch takes some getting used to but once accustomed to it it works very well. I find myself going to the 18v DeWalt less and less as i find new ways to use the ps10. The only negative is Bosch needs to design a better way to carry the driver. While the clip is handy it tends to be awkward. Highly recommend this driver.

br /I find the battery last a long time between recharging, In short great tool.

Well dewalt is clearly better if you can have only one or two drivers in your tool box the chuck is ok- even the chucks on cheap drivers are ok. It is good for tight places, doesn,t have much power, probably as much as i'd expect from a 3.6 volt driver and the electric clutch is not as good to screw as mechanical clutches People will probably disagree with me, but I own and use 6 different drivers and that's my opinion. Not good for large screws, too weak, and the clutch adjustment is dismal if you are looking an accurate and consistent setting. I hope bosch works on improving these shortcomings so the tool can live up to the bosch reputation. For drilling ,don't waste your time.

I bought the PS10 about a year ago, along with it's better half the PS20 pistol grip driver. We use the pistol every day at the shop,, while the PS10 sits and collects dust. The PS10 is a well built, solid cordless tool that is too specialized for it's own good. The clutch is either broken or doesn't at all. The soft start is for an application that I've never encounted. It's not needed at all. The battery is exceptional in charge and longevity. Go with the pistol PS20, especially when Bosch decides to put a Jacobs chuck on it!!!

Just put this in your hand and it feels good. It's a slower speed driver with guts. It is made for driving screws but you can get drill bits for it. They just have to have the hex type base on them. This driver does not have a chuck. It a quick release type connecter so it never slips. The head pivots which can be handy and the trigger is handy as well. The two batterys last quite a long type for how small and lite they are. I really like mine.

This tool is the only one in the 10.8 range that I am glad I bought. It is very specialized, but it does what it does perfectly. It is heavier and bulkier than the PS20, but I haven't found anything else that can drive 2" screws from the inside of a 6" pipe. It is also excellent for those hinge screws or drawer glides that don't need much power, but offer little room to maneuver (though a light would be nice). It has one querk that I haven't seen mentioned in the other reviews, and that is the delay-slow start when you pull the trigger. For some reason it takes a second for it to start turning. Kind of annoying, but not problematic.
br /The pivoting head works really well, and the trigger placement is especially nice when used with the bit in line with the body of the tool. Reversing switch is very intuitive; all in all, a great specialty tool.

Impressive performance all around. I was amazed at how long a battery charge lasted and the amount of torque you have right up until the battery finally quits. Contrary to my expectations about the 10.8 volt rating, I find myself actually clutching down the power for almost all screwing jobs! I'd recommend this product without reservation.

I bought this at the big orange home improvement store and really wanted to like it. The tool felt very heavy-duty, and the power seemed to be more than adequate for my purpose of installing cabinet hardware in tight places. The batteries charged very quickly. However, I noticed when I released the trigger, I could see a flash of light in the motor through the heat vents by the handle. I don't know if they all work this way, and assumed that they did, so I proceeded to use the tool. However, after I completed the work (I was driving the last screw), the driver stopped working in the forward-drive mode. It reversed just fine. I don't know if this had anything to do with the flash - maybe something burned out - but I had to take it back for a refund. I chose not to get a second one.

I'm in the middle of a move and I am pleased with this tool! I'm using it to take down all those things you put up during an extended stay and it's performed flawlessly. I wanted something powerful, reliable, and portable. It comes with two batteries, which charge very quickly, and a convenient soft carrying case/bag. It has all the power I need as a homeowner, and I feel it's fairly priced. Finally, it has a great warranty, but given Bosch's reputation, it probably will never be used. My only criticism is that it only comes with one flat and phillips driver bit. But, overall, I feel this tool is a great fit for most homeowners.

I initially had buyers remorse on this drill when I saw the little impact driver that Bosch sells. But then I started using it! Great power for it's size. When I need to drill holes, I'll pick up my Panasonic 12v. But when I have lots of screws or small pilot holes to drill, this baby is handy! The rotating head is nice, though I rarely use it in the straight up position. Mostly I use it at the 90 degree position. The batteries are long long lasting. I like to hang it on my belt using one of those clip on tool hooks. I can keep my regular drill with a pilot bit in the holster, and I keep the driver in the Bosch. No switching bits! Especially those vix bits for hinges. I've been able to drill and drive in some tight spaces with this drill, it's great for cabinets. A very good value for the money.
br /Yes, I will be buying the little impact driver that Bosch makes, it's supposed to be a great tool and the cool thing is that both tools will use the same batteries and chargers.

Won't drive pocket screws in close quarters because the head is too big. I guess I'm going to have to buy a right angle attachment for my regular cordess drill/driver anyhow. Electronic clutch doesn't adjust low enough for driving small screws or driving into soft material. It will strip them out. It also uses more torque if start it fast instead of squeezing the trigger slowly, so this also can strip out screws. I like the soft start. It is very nice for bumping the bit around to align with the slots/holes in the screws. Battery, battery charger and battery life is very good. It's a little large for my tastes, but pretty good other than the bad I have mentioned.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this driver. The feel of the grip and the ergonomics are excellent, as is the pivoting head that gives you the needed flexibility depending on the situation at hand.
br /
br /The caveats (probably kept me from awarding fice stars): 1) As indicated in other reviews, the torque setting doesn't seem to affect the overall torque delivered to the bit as one might expect; 2) there seems to be, under some conditions, a delay between depressing the trigger and the actual rotation of the bit. I'm unsure is this is by design or perhaps operator error, but it's not a primary consideration for me at this point.
br /
br /Overall, this is another great Bosch product. The 10.8 volts delivers what you expect. It doesn't in any way substitute for more powerful cordless tools for driving fasterners, but it comes in handy for tight spots and light duty applications, in my opinion.

The most borrowed tool I own.

A right-angle drill/driver is hard to do without. Goodness knows how many times we all have reached into tight places to drive screws manually with ratchets or short screwdrivers. Not fun, is it? The Bosch PS10-2 gets into those tight areas for tasks like attaching drawer slides. Plus, it is reasonably small and light, so you will grab it for a lot of normal drilling and screw-driving tasks. The angle-head feature works perfectly and while 0 and 90 degree angles are the most used, once in a while another angle is useful.
br /
br /This Bosch uses what they call Clic-Change bits. These are 1/4 inch hex shanks with indentations on them (note that some bits have very small indentations for use in other devices. The ones for use in the Bosch are the bigger ones). They are available in every brand and every manufacturer makes drill/drivers that use these bits. This is not a Bosch exclusive. You pull the collar out, drop the bit in, and it is a quick and secure connection. Much nicer than wrestling with chucks.
br /
br /This is why they call these devices "drivers" instead of "drills". Twist drill bits can't be bigger than the hex shank, so they are limited in size and that makes it less flexible than a dedicated drill. Also, drills spin at high speed, while drivers are designed to operate at lower rpms. Bosch feels the primary use will therefore be to drive screws, and as a nut-driver.
br /
br /You can get spade bits because they have build-in hex shanks. Of course, a 10.8-Volt driver isn't meant to drill huge holes through studs all day, but it does have enough power to actually do that.
br /
br /You will still need to have a conventional drill with a twist chuck to use all the bits you have now and will need for many tasks.
br /
br /The slow-start feature would seem to be more useful on big powerful tools like routers, but you get used to it and can use a light touch when needed. The "clutch" isn't a conventional mechanical one and it takes a little getting used to, but it works.
br /
br /The angle feature is secure, the motor is smooth and powerful and everything seems well built. It is far from tiny, though, surprisingly big. It is not at all like those little electric screwdrivers. This is a full-sized, powerful drill/driver.
br /
br /What would make it better? It would be perfect if it had a a selectable impacting action.

I am a licensed electrician and utilize this screwdriver for almost everything. The batteries last forever and the tool's torque is phenomenal. I used to carry my DeWalt stuff with me for job estimates but now I carry this little tool because of its flexibility, power, and battery reserve. The cheapest place that I have found it is toolup.com.

I purchased this a little over a month ago to use at work (A/V installs and mobile electronics). I am very pleased with it. It has more power than I expected, and good battery life.

Perfect little companion

This is a great product. I haven't had extended time with it... but on first blush it's designed to be exactly what it looks like... a drill for tight spaces. I just hope the Bosch name doesn't let me down.

***I do not own this tool, but have used it***
br /
br /It was designed to fit where a normal drill cannot. First things first, bat life. It has a pretty good bat life. From what I could tell, the guy I work with usually deals with 1" dry wall, "one inch" "5/16, "1/2 "1/4 sheet metal screws and various other small screws. He would drive maby 10 screws a day on average with the thing what ever the regular drill or screw driver couldn't get too without problems. The battery lasted a good two weeks or more depending on what he was using it for. From what I've seen and experienced it doesn't always seem to have the torque to drive 5/16 sheet metal screws longer than "1 all the way into wood, but still plenty powerful for anything smaller. You can get into some vary tight spaces with the thing. Screwing the side of a recessed can light to a beam because you can't use all the tabs because the beams are to close together for example is when it comes in vary handy... I could see this thing being vary useful for people that work with control/push button stations.
br /
br /Neat feature/s: It has an electronic clutch witch will ease into a turning motion to help prevent snapping/striping small screws. This clutch is adjustable and is perfect for anything the size of a #10 screw or smaller. You can also lock it out of the clutch so no limiting is preformed. It also has an adjustable angle head witch has come in handy for boxed in areas.
br /
br /If you do a lot of like duty work in tight spaces there is no reason why this shouldn't be on your list of things to look at. If you need raw power check out a Dewalt DC988 or similar model.

I own a lot of BOSCH tools, and love this one too. The great thing about BOSCH variable speed cordless tools is the speed control you have with the trigger. Some triggers "JUMP" through the RPMs, but the BOSCH tools don't and this smaller one is great too. It is usefull for small jobs, and even electrical service panels, hobbies, and more. Replaced my cheapie BD, and it was well worth it.

Bosch! Got it right!

Great little drill, very compact and loads of power even with the 10.8 volt!
br /This drill is lite-weight,and easily fits into your pouch when in constent use,
br /and is much easier to handle than either DeWalt 14v. angle drill or Milwaukee close quarter
br /angle drill.

I purchased this product because it appeared innovative and Bosch has a good reputation. I am very disappointed. The torque is sadly lacking. I am surprised that other reviewers have commented how "powerful" it is. It will not drive screws without pilot holes even at the lowest (highest torque) setting. It functions quite poorly as a drill due to the low rpm even at the highest setting. It was recently reviewed in a very popular woodworking magazine and given the thumbs-down. Not recommended.

It's OK, but is definately a specialty tool

I've got the Bosch driver, but wanted a drill that was short between the chuck and trigger and more powerful.
br /
br /I purchased this expecting that it was an impact driver (i-driver), but it is not.
br /
br /This has slow startup when you squeeze the trigger, is rather larger (mechanics of articulating head I guess) and isn't any stronger than the other Bosch driver.
br /
br /I'll be returning this product because it isn't torquey enough for me, but I suppose many finish workers would like this tool for some tricky jobs.
br /
br /If it was an impact driver, I would have kept it and it would have served me greatly for the special task that I needed it for.

My son Chris is a professional finish carpenter and the right tool for the right job is important to him. This is the right tool for close quarters that require torque and speed control.

Would have been better is just a little smaller even if less power. Only real problem is the slow change chuck. My cheap balck and decker uses a double end screwdriver bit that just slips in and out. Faster to change and one bit with phillips and common type on one bit. The bosch you have to have 2 bits and to make it worse you will have to hunt in your tool box to change the bit since it dose not have a place to even store the extra bit on the tool like other high end tools like Makita drills. As a contractor this will last me longer and have more power but will not save me time over the cheap Black Decker. Why cant bosch first get some feedback from people that use these tools first during testing.
