I have a 14.4V DeWalt impact driver and the Hitachi WH12DMR 12-volt impact driver. I use them for trim work in the house we are building.
br /
br /The Hitachi goes into impact mode at lower torque than the DeWalt which makes less likely to strip screw heads. It easily drives the 3-1/2" #9 trim head jamb extension screws that are needed for Anderson 400 series windows in 2x6 walls. The trim head screws don't have a very deep socket - but this driver drives them with ease.
br /
br /It is very easy to use in closet shelving where sometimes the position is difficult and its hard to put much presure on the tool when driving screws.
br /
br /Its smooth, the low speed control is much better than any other I've used. You can position a screw "exactly" where you want it with almost no practice at all.
br /
br /The batteries recharge relatively quickly, I've had no battery problems with either this unit or the DeWalt.
br /
br /Finally, it is light and has a built in hook that hangs it on your pocket or belt. It is hard to overstate how handy that hook is. Combined with the light weight you can forget the tool is hanging on your belt or pocket. Standing on a ladder, holding the jamb extension with one hand, its easy to pick a screw out of the tool pouch, set it in the hole, then grab the driver off your front pocket and zzzzziiiiippppppppp its in. Hang it on your pocket again, check the other end, use both hands if you need to, then grab it to drive the second screw.
br /
br /Highly recommended for trim work and general purpose screw driving.

I did research concerning inpact driver and decided on the Hitachi. Amazon had the best price so I ordered it there. I was a little unhapyy with the delivery time and the fact that I was unable to confirm anything acurate about the delivery. It took over three weeks to get the tool. After I fianally received and have used it a few days, I am completely satisfied with this tool. I have let other guys on the job use it and ahve gotten nothing but praise. It has plenty of torque and is light weight and easy to use. The batteries may not last as long as I would like them to and when they are hot they won't charge until they have cooled off and that sometimes causes a dely in being able to use the driver. All in all a very good tool.

I've owned this little driver for a few months now and I reach for it every time i need to drive drywall screws to quarter inch lag bolts. I am a fenceing contractor, so I use it pretty much everyday! The batteries last as well as my Panasonic Drill batteries. Excellent value.

Dude, this little bitty is no joke. My partner bought one and he has to fight me off from using it in the shop. He says I need to get my own. I love it and I plan on getting one soon. We build custon cabinetry and furniture and it works great for geting into tight spots. It's lightweight which reduces fatigue in the ol' forearms. Oh yeah did I mention it's no joke? We took a phillips driver and drove a 6" wood screw into a couple two by fours and it literally sent the thing through it with out hardly having to use any pressure. try doing that with a regular screw gun!

Hitachi Impact Driver is the best.

This is a great tool. It is compact, well balanced, powerful and long lasting. The light and the belt hook are great features. Works better than the other impact drivers that I have used.

One of my all-time favorite tools. The variable speed is perfect, as it always is on Hitachi tools. At slower speeds the unit will tighten precisely one click at a time, giving you perfect control over setting screw depth/torque. Hitachi cordless tools use rare-earth magnets in their motors giving them a performance advantage over the competition, more lightweight, quieter, and more powerful. It will easily break driver tips and screw heads! Plenty of power but if you want to drive 3"+ deck screws without drilling pilot holes (I ALWAYS drill pilot holes) then I would suggest the 18 volt model, it will really slam them in fast.
br /The convenient belt hook/light and the minimal weight of just over 3 pounds make this tool extremely portable and handy at your side.
br /The 2.0ah batteries, quick charger, exclusive belt hook/light, compact carrying case and overall quality product make this a steal at under $200. The carrying case is a great no-frustration rigid plastic case in which all items are easily retrieved and stored. You will really like it!

I have used several of these impacts on job sites and have been wanting one for some time. I have had it for about a month I guess and although I don't use it every day I am still useing the first battery I put in when it got here. That was kind of unexpected because the other ones I have used went through their charges a little quicker than this one, cool! I just can't say enough about this tool. Its the only thing I have found that does a nice job on tapcons into concrete, and does it without twisting your wrist off, try that with your 18 volt dewalt. It is light to work with so it doesn't wear out your arm, the hook is very handy especially when on a ladder, and the built in light is just as handy. I have had people come up to me to see what the noise is that they are hearing, ussually they want to try it out and are immediatly sold on it, which brings me to the only drawback that I have found with this tool, everybody is always borrowing it.

This is my second drill. The first one came up missing. I liked it so much I got another. one.
br /I don't seem to pickup the 18V drill anymore. This drill is easy to use and powerful. Wish they would make it in a lithiumion battery model.
