This is a nice little tool that you can keep in a kitchen drawer or your car for a pretty long time and not worry about it loosing its charge. I really like the small compact size. It also has a decent accessory set with it.
br /
br /Here is where I think it needs improvement:
br /
br /*No variable control (on or off only)
br /*The speed is pretty slow
br /*No clutch which makes it difficult tighten any screw on with any accuracy w/o taking out another manual screw driver to finish it off.
br /*not enough power to tackle even a 1-1/4 wood screw into a 2x*
br /* You cant lock the shaft (I would want this to finish tightening a screw that this unit doesnt have enough power for)
br /
br /I realize this tool is not designed to replace a larger cordless drill and this does have many uses, but with todays technology BD can do better.

I was at Target today and the price was $39.99. Perhaps the lesser price mentioned in the other review was a sale.
The new battery type being ready all the time is great, but the unit is missing the clutch feature available on other models; thus, 4 stars. I anticipate Black & Decker will create a model with both the new battery type and clutch; it's just a matter of time.
This is one cool cordless tool!

At $29.99, this is a cool deal! I love mine. It is always ready to go....and I don't have to always drag out the larger cordless drill. The accessories that came with it are great too. I also bought a grinder from Ace to fit on it so I can sharpen my garden tools with it. I use mine a lot, but to be honest I have not tried to put 3" screws in hardwood. I would not trade mine in, it fits a niche in my tool cabinet and I am glad I have it.

handy screwdriver, powerfull enough to drill long screws into hard wood. Pistol grip handle means it's short so it can fit in tight spaces. Battery holds a charge for a long time (haven't had to recharge it yet (installed a kitchen, and 6 sets of blinds).

I just bought the LI3000 a couple weeks ago (here) for my girlfriend, and it blows me away how handy this little thing is. I'd read all of the reviews here and kind of had my fingers crossed about the whole thing. Turns out, it's better than I could've hoped for. No more borrowing the neighbors' 18v cordless drill for us, the LI3000 is more than enough for everything we need around the house. A little background - I'm an electrician with a habit of tearing into anything that I can just to see how it works (from TVs to clocks to iPods), and my girlfriend is a designer who rebuilds furniture in her spare time. Our walls are so full of holes, there might be more spackle than sheet rock anymore, but getting back to the drill... I mean "screwdriver", it's amazing. We have some drill bits with 1/4" hex drivers, and I've tapped several holes through 2x4" oak already. Hanging pictures, drapes, cupboards, etc. has been so easy it's hard to imagine loving this little driver more. Oh, I almost forgot. I read reviews here where-in people complained there wasn't a "clutch" mode. I can attest that's completely false. There is a clutch mode and it works fine. I think it turns at a very well controlled speed, and honestly, I can't think of anything I'd change. Love it!

Until you had one of these little gems.
br /
br /If you look at my other reviews you'll see I don't usually go for this kind of homeowner-type tool. However there was a rebate deal that made it almost free, so I said what do I have to lose?
br /
br /Well, for one thing I don't need to walk around with a cordless drill hanging off my tool belt all the time now! This baby is so handy, I can't believe it.
br /
br /The Good:
br /
br /- It's powerful. I can drive a 1 inch screw straight into pine with no pilot hole. More than enough power for most tasks involving screws or nuts.
br /
br /- It's fast. Basically, if you're using a hand screwdriver to put in or take out more than one screw, you're wasting time and money if you're in the trades.
br /
br /- The Lithium Ion battery holds a charge. Hoo-ray! It absolutely drives me nuts to pick up a tool with a Ni Cad battery and find it dead as a doornail because it hasn't been used in a week or it's been sitting in a cold truck all night. Doesn't happen with this.
br /
br /-It fits in tight spaces. I was installing crown on the top of a built in book case today so I had 5 inches between the ceiling and the top of the case. NOTHING short of a right angle drill would have driven those screws had I not had this baby.
br /
br /- It comes with a huge pile of driver bits. Holy cow, what a bonus.
br /
br /The Not So Good:
br /
br /-Well, the battery isn't replaceable, meaning once this is tool is dead, you can't just pop in another battery pack and keep going. You have to wait to recharge it.
br /
br /But to be fair, come on! It costs less than [...], what do you expect? I just drop it in the charger at lunch time if I've been using it and I've never run it dead yet. Still, if you're in the trades like electrical, you already own a cordless screwdriver so why are you reading this?
br /
br /I put this down in the category of "Sometimes you get more than you pay for." 5 Stars.

I got this drill for free with another purchase from Amazon. I have all Dewalt and Makita power tools so I was expecting this thing to be a joke, to break right away and get thrown away. I was wrong, this thing is great, and I use all the time for small things around the house. The lithium part is nice because it seems to hold a charge for quite a while. Don't get this thing expecting to be Mr Fix It as this drill is not made for that. This drill is perfect for putting wall plates on, putting a screw into drywall, assembling pre-made furniture and toys. Do not try to screw a 2 inch long screw into a 2 x 4 as you will burn the drill up. By a real drill for that.
br /
br /It also comes with 30 or 40 different bits for the drill that I didn't know came with it so that was an added bonus.

Great Little Power Screwdriver!

I really like this little power screwdriver. I'm refinishing all my kitchen cabinets and this little driver was absolutely invaluable in this project. I have full size cordless drivers, but they're too bulky and heavy for continuous use for something like simple unscrewing/screwing in large amounts of screws. In my project, I had to unscrew/screw pulls, hinges, mounting brackets, slides, outlet covers etc.. I was able to carry around and use this driver all day for all my various projects without the battery dying or giving out on me. I don't miss not having adjustable speed or torque because what it's got is perfect for screwing in simple wood screws.
br /
br /Don't expect it to replace a full size power drill - that's not what thing was made for. It's for smaller tasks...and surprisingly, I guess I had a whole lot more smaller tasks than I thought. I've gotten lazy now and hate messing with a manual screwdriver anymore when it's so much easier and faster to just pick up this tool. The recharging stand is very discreet, cute, and useful. It's very easy to dock the screwdriver and know it will be fully charged whenever you need it. I've also kept the screwdriver in a drawer for weeks at a time, to find it still had plenty of juice in it for a quick project. The battery lasts a surprisingly long time.
br /
br /All in all - I would recommend this item. It's been very useful around the house and very reliable.
How Powerful Is it?

My main concern before deciding to buy this cordless screwdriver was whether it would be powerful enough. After years of hacking together Ikea chipboard furniture I was confronted with a Crate and Barrel oak bookshelf. Getting the screws into the oak by hand was painfully difficult and I was starting to strip the screws before they were half in. I couldn't tell from the reviews here whether it would have enough juice for the job and ended up buying this in blind hope.
br /
br /Happily, the LI3000 did the job beautifully! The bookshelves were up in about a 10th the time it would have taken otherwise. How powerful is it then? Strong enough to get inch long wood screws into solid oak. I think thats probably about the limit of its capability.

This little screwdriver is one of my favorite tools. This little guy gets rave reviews from the majority, then there are those that expect to much. It is only 3.8 volts but has an amazing amount of power. It isn't variable speed but I find it isn't needed. This driver is slower then most but still plenty fast. It's the gear ratio that gives it the great torque needed and all this with 3.8 volts. It fits the hand nicely and gets into small areas. Not having a clutch is no problem either. I have no trouble controlling the depth of the screw do to the perfect drilling speed. I also use mine with sockets after first popping the nut/bolt lose. I also install them and hand tighten the last turn or so. This really speeds up the job nicely. I tackled a few 1 and 3/4" wood screw on a piece of 2x4 and it handled the job great. This tool is amazing. Only thing I do not understand is the price listed here. I bought mine at Walmart for 29 dollars and change. I had intentions of buying one for the house. Think I'll check Walmart first. Maybe there selling so good the prices went way up.

No- it's not gonna drive 3" deck screws into oak. But if you are putting up some blinds, or removing cabinet doors, or just need a small, light, easy to use screwdriver, this thing's for you. It's not going to twist your wrist off, but for the last 2 turns of the screw, the auto-locking feature works like a charm. Charge it up, toss it into the drawer and it's ready to go anytime you need it. Really saves me a lot of trips to the garage to get the cordless drill for 90% of household projects.

I purchased this product when my old Milwakee cordlees driver finally gave up the ghost. The real attraction was the Lithium battery as this was the weak point of the Milwakee. I had to keep replacing the batteries when they wouldn't hold a charge. This unit has a nice designutilizinf a comfortable pistol grip vice the straight pencil design many companies use. It holds a charge well and performs quite nicely for lighter work. A word of warning to woodworkers: you will not be able the drive screws in hardwood or long screws in softwood. There just isn't enough torque to do the job. Otherwise it's nice.

The BD K13000 Cordless Screwdriver is a handy tool for small jobs. I find it does not have the power to drive or remove stubborn screws, but is really great for doing everyday jobs around the house. I had to attach a clamp on a dryer vent. In the past, tightening the screw with a screw driver while holding the clamp in place was a frustrating job and often took several attempts while the clamp slipped. With this power screwdriver the clamp went on in one attempt and quickly. How nice. I find this tool easy to use, and at this early stage of ownership I am happy with my purchase.

I love this thing. I have been using it daily for the last couple of weeks to install residential electrical wiring. It fits neatly in my tool pouch weighs very little and has plenty of power. I am side wiring all my receptacles with pigtails and #12 wire. This is the most convenient tool I have found for the job. It runs the 2 extra terminal screws in much faster than I can by hand and it has enough power to put a lot of clamping pressure on the screws. I run it in till it won't turn any further then I release the switch and give it another ¼ to ½ turn or so to really set the screw. The "L" shape of the handle provides a lot of leverage and the gearbox automatically locks the bit in place when it isn't being powered by the motor so you can put a massive amount of twist to the screw head. I then use it to mount the device to the box and install the cover plate. I am over 6 foot tall and weigh around 220. I have enough strength to break many hand tools. I have had industrial quality socket wrenches and ratchets come apart in my hands while twisting them. I expected to have the gearbox on this screwdriver explode under this treatment, but so far it is holding up well and because of the extra leverage afforded by the handle design my wrist isn't nearly as sore as it would be if I was twisting a regular screwdriver that hard. I get a full day of use out of it between charges.
br /
br /p.s.
br /I should mention that I am an amateur, and I am installing wiring in an existing Amish farm house with existing walls so a full day of use is only 15 to 20 devices, far short of what an electrician would do during new residential construction. I spend a lot of my time scratching my head trying to figure out how to get the wire from where it is to where it has to be.

Auto-lock for manual use. Convenient thumb placement for direction reverse. It also has a nice compact size, which is extremely useful for accessing places that a conventional rechargeable won't fit. It is so simple even my kids can use it. However without a clutch you can only use it to do so much. I have to carry a set of regular screw-drivers with me to snug things down, which rather defeats the point.

The Black and decker lithium screwdriver is great for getting into places a larger cordless driver just can't reach. I used it to reverse the blades on my ceiling fan. It is just so handy. I was looking for a cordless screw driver but didn't want one of the really cheap $10 things. I wanted something a little smaller than my full size power drill for smaller projects. It fits that job perfectly, it is small but feels sturdy. I have used it for assembling furniture and its great to get into smaller places that would be difficult with a drill. It is also very comfortable to hold.

br /All joking aside, though, this little tool gets more use than any other tool we own. It's great for putting together everything from IKEA furniture to real build it yourself from scratch things. We've never run down the charge, even after putting together 10 IKEA bookcases in one afternoon. We keep it on the charging stand when not in use. I've had this screwdriver for several months. It's a pretty useless thing. It does drive screws, but very slowly. No clutch, no speed control. $40 should buy more in this day and age. I tried to think of somebody to give this to. There wasn't anyone I could think of because lack of speed control and clutch is a serious disadvantage to both the experienced and the inexperienced. I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 stars because a few other people are happy with it. That must mean that somehow I am missing something good about this tool. I think you should save your money and put it towards a more versatile tool. After all, its price is already 1/3 the price of a Bosch.

I have two of these things:one in each of two houses. The tool is just as handy as can be and has torque to spare. The lithium battery allows the tool to remain on charge until I use it the next time without depleting the battery over time (or so they claim). All good stuff. You can even buy little 6-piece drill sets that fit into the socket, and I use the tool for this also in tight spaces. (But the drill bits must be backed out using reverse, a hassle).
br /
br /The reason I rank this a 3 is, well, it's a Black and Decker. Over the years, I've had my troubles with BD and I don't buy that brand anymore. In this case, though, I could use my Amazon bonus money, so I got 'em for free. Still, the second unit I bought had a faulty switch: wouldn't operate at all after being charged, and then only in reverse. To Amazon's credit, they shipped me a new one immediately and told me to ship the bad one back after #2 unit checked out. So, #2 unit arrives and, after charging, operates fine and then won't go into reverse. Now, it's just fine, but I'll wait a while before sending back Unit #1.
br /
br /Finally, as an added bonus, BD ships two wall anchors and two screws for wall mounting. However, the screws they include are too big to pass through the attaching holes in the charging unit! A small thing but, really, BD, what are you thinking?
br /
br /Skil offers the same tool at the same price, but not on Amazon. However, my guess is that they are both made by the same Chinese manufacturer. Choose your poison, I guess.

This little drill is not worth the effort. I have an earlier BD rechargable I use a lot but I bought this one because it was small and could get into small spaces. But when you put on the bit and adapter it is as long as my regular driver. And the bits and adapter fall out of the "chuck" easily and I've nearly lost it the few times I have used the tool. It hold a charge for along time but that doesn't count for much as I probably won't use it.

The drill is a wonderful idea because it fits my small hand and is light enough that my arthritic wrists can handle it. But it was not powerful enough to drive in screws for the first two projects I tried it on.

This tool is amazing: so much power that I sold my 18 volt portable drill. This unit will handle any of your needs at home for drilling or tightening of screws. From drilling to mounting shelves on the wall.
Great product and all this from a unit that fits easily in anyones hand.
Was a bad choice for me

I bought it to drive screws into a 2x4 where I was going to put a clothing rod up. It didn't work at all for this. It did help me put small screws into another project. However, I am very dissapointed. I feel I wasted my money.
Excellent...no home should be without one!

I don't understand how Amazon can say the regular price on this item is $60 and it has been discounted to $39.99 when all the b&m stores have it at a regular price of $39.99. I have noticed this with a lot of Amazon's "so called" deals.
