I have owned the bosch 18v jig saw and was very unhappy with it.
br /Jigsaws need to do one thing better than any other saw: cut curves and corners. The new dewalt jig is phenominal in all respects, its blade guidance system allows for the tightest curves I have ever cut with a jig saw and that includes the corded models.
br /
br /this thing will cut 2" circles inside a 2x4!! and the plug will go in and out from both sides meaning the cut was perfectly perpendicular. I am a loyal milwaukee user but they don't provide a cordless jig so I bought this one.
br /
br /The power is excellent the balance is near perfect and the keyless shoe is great, best jig saw I have ever used and I am a pro.
br /
br /only down I can say is the blade does not really fall out when you pull the release lever, you need to pull it out, no biggie.

No second battery? ... So

The DC330K is a great cordless tool. Several other reviewers have sung the praises of this saw so I won't.
br /
br /I sometimes wonder if reviewers who bemoan the lack of a second battery with some of DeWalt's cordless tools think about what it is that they are complaining about. DeWalt (or any other cordless mfg) is not going to 'give' you a second battery at no cost (unless its a promotional offer, which sometimes happens). The product specs say you can cut 50' of 3/4" material on a charge! Apparently, since I have not had occassion to 'kill' a battery yet, I have never exceeded this total. The average user would rarely need a second battery. This tool falls into 'special use' catagory and should never be considered as someone's 'primary' saw on a project. Fifty feet of curved, circular, or straight cuts is a lot of running feet! If, on occassion, you think you are going to be cutting more than 50', schedule other project work to do while the battery recharges and save yourself some $. These batteries are not cheap! If you are doing more than 50' worth of continuous cuts on a regular basis, you are doing production-type work and you should buy a second (possibly a third) battery. For the average homeowner even with a workshop, one battery should do it. The addition of a second battery would raise the cost of this high quality, already expensive tool significantly higher and possibly out of the reach of many homeowners with tighter budgets.
br /
br /Besides, if you have already or are in the process of adding cordless tools to your inventory you probably have 'extra' DeWalt 18v batteries anyway. If so, DeWalt adding a second battery to this package would be a moot point.
br /
br /A note and a word of caution: If you have extra batteries, Amazon's third party store Max Tool offers a good selection of DeWalt 'bare tools' without batteries or chargers at substantial savings. However, reading the available specs for the jig saw offered (MaxTool provides no model #) it appears to be the old model, less powerful DW933K which has 4-star average and some owner related problems... so be sure you know what you are buying.

I have several Dewalt 18V tools and just got this one. Nice to always have a couple of charged batteries ready. It's a great saw and cuts really strong. Nice and compact, especially compared to my Bosch corded saw. Dust blower is better than average. When I use a jigsaw the cord always seems to be in the way or getting snagged on a corner. Blade holder seems very strong and stable. One note...according to the manual,it accepts T-shank blades ONLY, but I've never had a blade fall out.

Better than most corded jigsaws...

I try to keep up with worthy innovations(they are few)in our business. Cordless drills were major and have subtley improved over the years.(I bought my first in the early 70's and have not been without at least one since.) Then came staplers, circle saws, lights, and nailers; all battery powered, and extremely handy not having to fool with a cord 30' up on a complicated roof system, or in a crawlspace or attic to make one or two simple cuts. The convienience overpowered any gripes about weight, battery rundown, cheesy fences, or less than nimble adjustments. Then came Dewalt with a line of 18volt battery powered tools, just at the time I needed to retool our custom home building business. I bought into it entirely (one battery for all tools), only for convieneince. Drills, circle saws, sawzalls, finish nailers were all handy as a shirt pocket. Then came a need for a lot of jigsawing so I thought I'd try one. I've used Milwaukee, Bosch, and Makita corded jigsaws over the years and have to say that this Dewalt cordless jigsaw is as good if not better than any corded saw I've used. Then I bought another. We love them. The only reason for four stars is that the Dewalt engineers were asleep when they didn't put headlites on it like they did their trim nailer. Shame on them!

Much better than the old one!!!

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by this jig saw. I owned the previous DeWalt version and was very unhappy with it. I thought long and hard about buying a Bosch. But I like cordless tools when possible and I already have a lot of DeWalt tools. So I opted for the DC330K because of the glowing reviews and the battery commonality.
br /
br /The only similarities between the two are the colors. The blade change system works flawlessly. It cuts very straight and has lots of power. With my previous DeWalt I had to hold it at a 10 degree angle to get it to go straight. Not with this saw. That's what really impresses me. Also I find that I'm only cutting with about 3/4 power because there is so much in reserve. This things really rocks. Cutting plywood is almost like cutting with a circular saw. Oh, and the blower works very well too. It keeps the line clear even with a heavy build-up of saw dust.
br /
br /The balance is very good. It runs smooth, like a BMW. The variable speed is very good, with a wide range of power and very high RPM's. My only complaint would be the scale for adjusting angled cuts. It's not easy to tell exactly where you are. I don't do many angeled cuts, so it's not a big deal to me, but they need an arrow to point at the degrees so you know exactly when you are at 30 degrees or zero or whatever your position is.
br /
br /This is a great jig saw and you won't be dissappointed if you buy it.

Got this saw to do some odd remodel jobs. Saw is great, plenty of power and not having to grab a hot blade is a plus. My only complaint is that this dog is heavy, takes a lot out of you to work over waist high.

Be advised that this tools uses T-blades and the assortment of these is somewhat limited, BUT, this is a fantastic jig saw. It out performs two previous corded units I have had. I wish I had purchased sooner. One other difference that I think is somewhat of a disadvantage is that the blade is fixed and does not rotate 360 degrees like one I had before, BUT..... you know, this is a fantastic jig saw!

I have always used corded jigsaws in the past. I wanted something more mobile and have always been impressed with Dewalt tools. Well, they did not let me down again. This tool is fantastic. When sawing, it is very stable due to the weight. All the additional features make it a very useful tool for cutting jobs that require a jigsaw. I highly recommend this tool. Bill

I bought this tool because the old hand me down craftsman wouldn't stay locked. It also had the old set screw holding the blade in. The quick change feature of this jigsaw is worth it alone. When I was redoing my house I needed a little help so I called up my carpenter to come help me with a few things. He saw the saw sitting on the saw horse and tested it out. He started cutting a tight circle in a piece of scrap 2x6 pressure treated wood. When he was done he said "That's a nice jigsaw, too bad it's a DeWalt". He has a professed dislike for DeWalt (doesn't have single tool by them), but even he was impressed.

One word "INCREDIBLE"..I am a pretty good handyman and like most of us have gone through a certain amount of tools and Jig Saws. However, one like this one..never. This is exactly what a tool should do. It cut in wood like butter, the tool does the work, not you and as far as the weight is concerned, nothing wrong with it, quite the contrary. Instead of your harm doing the work, the tool does it for you. I am a huge fan of Dewalt Cordless tool and have got a bundle of them, but this has become very quickly my favorite. All of them are of incredible power. Highly suggest any cordless tool from Dewalt especially this one.

I'm very pleased with my DeWalt jig saw kit. The kit comes complete with jig saw, battery, charger, and a couple of blades. It cuts efficiently and smoothly. For me, the best part is that it complements my other 5 XRP cordless tools. I always have a spare battery if I need one. I've also found that DeWalt sells high quality drill bits/saw blades. They work great together! I highly recommend this jig saw, and all the XRP tools. Individually, they may not be best in class, but they are surely runners up at the minimum. Collectively, as a set they are top notch. Whatever you choose, pick a system with a common battery/charger.

As a long-time professional who has used (and abused) many jigsaws, I can say this one excels. My standby and favorite to date has been a corded Bosch, which has served me well and is amazingly durable. But one thing that has always annoyed me with it, and with every other jigsaw I have owned/used, is the inevitable chatter that happens when the saw is not carefully and intentionally pressed firmly against the work surface. I have never experienced this with the DeWalt.
br /
br /At first, I thought the DeWalt's weight would be an issue, but if anything, it is an asset and contributes to the natural balance, the smooth cut, the stability and lack of the tendency to chatter. The blade-changing system is excellent, and I have zero complaints about this tool.
br /
br /Another thing that has annoyed me forever with any corded jigsaw is that because of the nature of the cuts one does with a jigsaw, the cord seems to be in the way often. It is a real luxury to not have to deal with that anymore!
br /
br /Re: the reviewer who's blade-lock lever broke (bummer), I'd bet he got a one-in-a-million faulty part there. That lever appears to be stout beyond any normal requirements.
br /
br /Re: battery life, as pointed out by more than one reviewer already, this is rarely a primary tool, as nobody generally uses a jigsaw for hours on end. I have about 8 batteries in circulation for my dozen or so DeWalt tools (I love all of them), and so far I have never exhausted a battery on the jigsaw in a single day, much less a single cutting session.

I am a professional handyman - housepainter. This is a rugged little saw. It is versatile in the scope of its application and easy to master its use. It holds a charge well. The carrying case is excellent as well. Although it's a little pricey - it's well worth it.

I have had the corded DeWalt for about 9 years, and never get over how superior it is to all other jigsaws--now the cordless is every bit as good---except, of course, when the battery starts running down and I didn't have enough time to charge the standbys! A real TOOL, not a toy like Craftsman or BD.

I bought this drill refurbished on Ebay. It works very well. The battery life is acceptable, actually quite good.
br /
br /I use this to rough saw rounded edges before flush trimming with the router. It does well with this. It gets used mostly with 4/4 lumber with no problems.
br /
br /If I had to pay for asking price, it still would be worth a repeat buy. I've gotten used to not worrying about a cord while cutting and that's really nice.

Any dewalt product a must have.....

this tool get from me a great rating. it makes using a hand jigsaw what it should be. to not be tethered to a cord allows one to use a jigsaw in places where trailing an extension cord would be difficult, not to say very inconvenient. used it last week in my attic to do some work. have several of the Dewalt cordless tools and love them all.

Pro's - Best I've ever used. The minimal qualities it looses to corded models it makes up for not having to deal with the cord. Great balance and power. Maybe Dewalts single best 18V tool.
br /
br /Con's - I wish dewalt had a smaller and lighter batteries (worth what you might pay for them). I have not felt effects from the extra weight with this tool; it is nicely balanced.
br /
br /Overview: I always mention Dewalts entire 18V platform in reviews. I have other 18V tools (3 different brands) but I now have 11 Dewalt tools and no other manufacture offers this on one platform.
br /
br /UPDATE: I have used the Jig on numerous jobs and it has been perfect everytime. The battery life, power, and finess in fine work has been great!!

I found this jig saw to do everything I needed it to, it cuts straight which my bosch doesn't, has all the power to cut through hard maple with ease, blade changes are easy, and it is cordless, no cord to trip on. The only complaint I have is that it comes with only one battery. Dewalt is currenty having a promotion which you get an extra battery but it takes 10 to 12 weeks to get. It is very frustrating waiting for a battery to charge and I really don't want to use my bosch while I wait. I would give it 5 stars if it came with 2 batteries

br /Only one drawback DeWalt needs to include more saw blades.
