br /I am just entering the plumbing field as an apprentice, but one thing I've noticed is the difference that quality tools can make between an easy job and a nightmare. Makita's Li-Ion cordless power tools definitely fall under the category of tools that make a job easier.

br /The 1/2" hammer drill chews through anything I've thrown at it, including drilling 1" holes through concrete block. It zips 1/4" holes for masonry anchors in seconds, and with good bits, it bores through wood like a termite on steroids.

br /The recip saw never quits. Doesn't matter what you feed it: it eats it and spits back dust. The only thing that's slowed it down at all has been terra cotta pipe. On one occasion the plumber I was working with gave me his old ** **** cordless recip to cut through a 3/4" galvanized pipe. After struggling with it for 5 minutes and managing to cut half-way through the pipe, I put his away and pulled out my Makita. 2 minutes later, that cut and 2 others were done and I was putting my Makita recip away.

br /The impact driver makes for a handy screw gun, especially in situations where you need the drill at the same time.

br /The fluorescent shop light is a god-send. It's bright, and will last up to 5 hours on one charge. The only complaint I have here is that when the battery dies, you have no warning, no dimming of the light. It simply blinks out. But on the flip side, that means you have 5 hours of full-intensity, flicker-free white light.
br /
br /The charger works like a charm and charges the batteries in record time.
br /
br /Probably the greatest recommendation I can make is the comments on my tools from the other plumbers I work with. Several of them have commented VERY favorably, and a couple have already told me they're going to get this combo themselves as soon as they can get the money together.

br /Makita has hit the ball out of the park with their Li-Ion cordless tools. The ergonomics are good, the power is awesome, and the rugged durability is excellent. If you need a set of cordless power tools that will do whatever you need them to do, this set from Makita is it.

The product description lists this kit as having a xenon bulb flashlight. This is incorrect. The light shown in the picture IS correct. This package does come with the BML184 fluorescent mechanic's hang light, but NOT the BML185 4 position Xenon bulb light as listed in the product description.
