Description:
Forty-percent lighter and 33-percent more productive than other ultra-compact drill/drivers, the Pocket Driver is small enough to fit into a tool belt pouch and lightweight and powerful enough to accomplish a majority of professional drill/driving tasks all day without fatigue. For carpenters, remodelers, electricians, woodworkers and more, the Pocket Driver is an invaluable complement to larger and heavier cordless drill/drivers. The 10.8-volt Pocket Driver measures only 6 by 6.5-inches, nearly half the size of stick drivers and other ultra-compact drill/drivers. Under 2 pounds (with battery), the Pocket Driver is also 40% lighter and comfortably fits into a tool belt pouch or back pocket, unlike the competition. The Pocket Driver can drive 100 3-inch screws per charge and drill holes up to 1/2-inch in diameter, more than enough to keep most professionals productive through the day. The variable speed trigger controls 0-400 rpm and over 80-inch/lbs. of torque. A 10+1 clutch system, similar to those of standard drill/drivers, offers 10 drive and one "Max" drill setting for better control. The tool's Clic-Change bit holder makes 1/4-inch hex shank bits changes quick and easy. And an LED light enhances visibility in dim working conditions, while a soft-grip handle makes the tool more comfortable for all day use. Litheon 10.8-volt tools, such as the Pocket Driver, were not possible before lithium-ion technology. In addition to larger more powerful 36-volt tools, Bosch recognized the opportunity to extend the inherent benefits of the new battery technology to innovate the lower end of the voltage spectrum with a never before seen ultra-compact, lightweight and powerful design. The Ultra-Compact Bosch PS20 LITHEON 10.8-volt Pocket Driver comes complete with two batteries, 30-minute charger, soft carrying case and two bits.Get more product details from Amazon

I own five of these -no, I'm not (just) a tool-crazed homeowner, I run the largest custom art framing company in New England (Providence Picture Frame). Three are used all day (seven days a week) for production assembly related to custom framing. The other two are reserved for my installation crews- used for installing artwork in every type of residential and commercial walls (from horse hair plaster, to wooden stud, to metal stud construction). Trust me, I did the research...I bought two, and sent them out with our installation crews for testing (I worked with them on several jobs). The power, torque settings, long use per charge, quick recharge, handy light, and size (you can stuff it in your pocket when you're on a ladder) impressed me and my crews so much, that I bought three more for our production dept.
Since the PS-20 has a max speed of 400 RPM and only takes quick-lock style tools, obviously it does not replace every drill we have. However, it comfortably handles 95% of our drilling/driving needs and is small enough to always be in our tool kits (less schlepping back out to the truck to lug an 18-36v mega drill). This means we ALWAYS have the right tool for 95% of the jobs 100% of the time. The 5% it can't do? ...Drilling though multiple metal studs (higher RPM is better) and drilling into masonry (reserved for our commercial rotary hammer drills); but, honestly, nobody could fault the PS-20 for not handling those specialized uses. A side note: we managed to damage one drill (chuck would not release the bit -no matter what). After a quick call to Bosch's "Pro-Vantage" line (their warranty dept.), they 2-day aired a new PS-20 to my location and paid for the return shipping on the damaged tool. -EXCELLENT SERVICE!
Bottom line: If you're a homeowner, hobbyist or professional installer, you simply can't own a better drill/driver than the PS-20 or have it backed by a more committed company than Bosch. With the wide variety of quick-lock styled tools available everywhere -not having a standard chuck is no problem at all (and is probably far more convenient for most users). Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed.

I build cabinets and furniture mostly using 'pocket hole' joinery which requires a lot of screws. I usually use a 16.8 or 19.2 drill/driver which works good but gets heavy after a while.
This little Bosch is about 1/3 the weight and size and has plenty of power. I used it to assemble a set of kitchen cabinets made of Red Oak and driving about 1500 screws, it never looked back. The ad said it could drive 300 2 inch screws on one charge...I got about 150 1 1/4 inch screws into oak, which I think is great. The charger is called a 1 hour charger, but it completed a charge in about 35 minutes. I would highly recommend this tool.

I've owned this driver for 2 months now and am very disappointed with it's overall performance. It works 'ok' at best. I'm a locksmith and have used several drivers over the years. At only 80lbs of torque it replaces a manual screwdriver at best. In the cold weather, (forget about it), the lithium-ion battery completely shuts down until you warm it up in your pocket. Overall it looks and feels great but should you buy a tool because it looks cool or because it can perform the jobs you ask (and i'm not asking much of it either).
Nice, but not friendly in the cold.

This is a sweet little drill, but it doesn't work well in the cold. I am not sure if this is an isolated incident with my drill or a problem with lithium batteries. One contractor I talked to said his 18v Makita Lithium set doesn't work when it gets really cold.
It has been about 14 to 37 degrees for the past two weeks and I have been working outside most of the time. This drill only works when it is warmed up. As an example, I used it this morning inside to do a small conduit run and it worked fine. This afternoon I tried to use it outside in 30 degree weather and when I pull the trigger the battery acts like it is dead. It has done this consistently in the cold even with freshly charged batteries.
I do like this drill and as an electrician I look forward to using it in a lot of places I use my 15.6 Panasonic drill, but if the cold weather is a lithium problem I would stay away from it. It does have a lot of power and the light is nice. I wish I could be using it more, but I guess I will have to wait until the weather warms up.

This is by far the best tool purchase I've made in a long time. I recently started having trouble with my right hand, making using my 18 volt drill very hard, especially when all I'm doing is driving screw after screw...
This driver is very light, extremely powerful, and the battery lasts seemingly forever, then you have the second battery to keep going! The charger is extremely fast, making a fully dead battery ready to go long before the backup dies.
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is the case. Bosch really dropped the ball on that one. The case is flimsy, doesn't fit the driver if you have a mag head attached, and the charger's spot is not a good enough fit to keep it from falling out.
I moved all the pieces into a small soft-sided tool bag I had laying around and am happy with that.
You won't regret buying this driver, even if you already have a power screwdriver, this one will blow it out of the water. and if you have a drill, you'll find youself reserving it for bigger drilling jobs, and using the PS20 for everything else...

I purchaced this gun because I needed a light screwgun for work in cabinets and to install hardware in new homes. The Bosch PS20-2 seemed to be the one.
The light is usefull athough not all that bright but comes in handy if I'm just putting in a couple of screws. Driving power is pretty impressive for 10.8 volts. I wouldn't want to drive 3" screws all day but for small screws it is just about perfect. Battery life is also very good. The ergonomics of this gun is what really impressed me. It fits very nicely in my hand and is small enough to sit in my pouch with all my other hand tools and not flop out like a larger drill.
All in all a very good purchace.

In a time of bigger is better, compared to a 12 V drill this looks like a toy. The size of the tool is a little misleading. This is no toy. The tool fits perfect in most hands, including most women. The weight of the tool is misleading as well. With the lithium ion cells the tool weighs much less than the old 7.2 V tools yet has power equal to or better than most 12 V drills even on the market.
The features include a LED light that is helpful only in the darkest of places, it seems like it could blind you if you stared at it, yet it only sheds a little light to the workpiece. The adjustable clutch works flawless. The LI technology allows the tool to run at nearly constant performance until the battery is depleted. The sudden loss of power at battery depletion takes a little to get used to as well. The reachargable packs are so small and light, that you can throw several in a toolbox or purse and you'll never notice they are there.
My only gripes: with adequate power, drilling seams to be simple, yet with the hex adapter as your only option, finding drill bits can be a chore. Also, I look forward to a larger capacity pack, 1.5-2.0 Ahr. On larger jobs, you can drain the packs in a matter of 15 minutes.
All in all, the price, size, weight and power make this tool a great buy for anyone from a gift for dad or mom, to a DIYer, landlords, handymen, to some contractors. This has completely replaced my 12 V Ni-Cd drill.

This is perhaps the best driver on the market. I have owned mine for 6 months now and am completely satisfied.
br /
br /A reminder to prospective buyers: This is not a drill! It does not claim to be a drill. Though I have use mine to drill when the proper tool was not immediately available (and It performed better than I expected) this is meant to perform the same tasks one would use a traditional screwdriver for.
br /
br /The charge time is fast and performs a good deal of work per charge, the light is handy, the clutch and electric brake work admirably, the tool is durable (it has suffered several falls in my clumsy hands with no ill effect), it is light weight and ergonomic and thus quite comfortable to use and comes with a very nice soft case.
br /
br /I feel i should come up with at least one con so I wish it had a spare bit holder.

I bought this driver after reading other very favorable reviews, and I have to say that the tool has lived up to its 5-star rating. It is small, lightweight, powerful, and the batteries seem to go on forever without a recharge. It feels perfectly balanced; has good sound and "action"; and, the handle is generous so the tool is easy to manuever and control. I have other Bosch power tools and have rarely been disappointed with them, either from a design or dependability standpoint. No tool is perfect, but this one seems to come close in concept and performance. A couple of minor negatives would be that the LED, while a nice thought, is not well placed to focus on the tool/screw contact point; also, the tool case, while durable and functional (made of what appears to be ballistic nylon), is not "hard", a feature which some might prefer. Overall, you won't be disappointed by the feel and performance of this tool, although you will spend considerably more than you would for a similar looking tool from some of the mass marketing producers. On the other hand, if you get satisfaction from owning very high-quality tools (whether you really need top quality or not) this is an excellent choice. I'm glad I own it.

This is what I've always hoped from Lithium Ion batteries - a tool that is small and light but powerful! Also, the batteries charge extremely quick. I can't imagine a use where you could drain one battery before the other was fully charged, which means no down time.
I bought this primarily to help with cabinet assembly, in particular the mounting of drawer slides where one needs to work inside the cabinet case which is often cramped and dark. However, I can already see an endless list of uses for this product. I didn't expect it to take over for my 18v drill, but for any sort of screw driving it has! While I'm confident this little wonder could also drill, I'm more comfortable with my larger drill for that purpose.
I can't say enough good things about this, certainly one of my favorite tools. The solid feel of the product suggests vbery high quality construction and a long service life. This is my fifth Bosch tool, I also have a belt sander, jig saw, 5" random Orbit Sander and compound miter saw. Every one of the tools is among my favorites from a build quality perspective.

Great cordless driver - stumbled upon when looking for a more compact and lightweight cordless driver that would have more power than most of the others. Does a great job - more power, light comes in really handy, and the both batteries come already charged when shipped! Don't forget to buy the bits, though.

This pocket driver is awesome. Just enough power, light weight, durable, and long charge. I love that it comes with 2 batteries and they charge super fast. My only drawback is that it doesn't have a holder for the bit. I have Bosch's 18V cordless drill and it has a clip for the bit under the grip. It would be easy to do this on the top or the side of the pocket drill. Regardless, even without it, it is perfect.

I love this little screwdriver. Plenty of power. Easy to handle and carry. Easy to change bits. Plenty of power. Comes with nifty little cloth carrying case. Includes an extra battery as well as a charger. Did I say this had plenty of power?!? Well it does! Drove 3" drywall screws without argument or sweat.
I bought this as a replacement for my PC 19.2V which dropped from my hand while I was on a ladder onto a concrete floor. It survived but never recovered fully.
This PS20 is so much easier to handle. Due to it's size it will get into places that larger drill/drivers won't. The chuck is handy for quick bit changes and you don't have to loosen or tighten it as it only accepts 1/4" hex shanks grooved for a detent.
I would nominate this as best power tool of decade!

I received the Bosch Pocket Driver for my birthday in April (2007). I have quite an assortment of corded and cordless drills. The cordless drills run the gamut from 9.6 Volts to 18 volts. I have a hammer drill and impact driver, I didn't need another drill.
The little Bosch has become my first choice for home repairs. It stays charged and ready for use. I'm not sure how long the battery stays charged, I've only had it for a month and a half. If you are a project person, and do heavy work, the Bosch is definitely a second drill. It won't drill through concrete or put three inch screws in oak, but it is fantastic for most household repairs and assemble projects.
If you are a "Boomer" who has managed to pick up a little arthritis and lost a little arm strength, this is a great product. Putting up curtains, assembling cabinets or "flat pack" furniture becomes much more comfortable. The built-in work light helps eyes that are a little less sharp than they were a few years ago. It is a fantastic tool!

We used to use the Dewalt electric screwdrivers. The Bosch cost a bit more, but can get into tighter places and feel more comfortable in the hand. The barrel is pretty wide and sometimes I can't get in close to my work, so I keep the 3" and 5" Phillips #2 bits in the drill bag.

if your looking for buying a drill/driver, your search is done. this thing has all the power you could need, with a variable trigger, and a led. i have owned it a month or two now, and it is just great. i am a tv repair man, and i use this all day, everyday. the batteries charge in no time, and last very long. i can take ~500 screws out and still have a decent charge. i love the led, because when i'm inside the tv, i can use that led to read color codes off resistors, device numbers, etc. bottom line. BUY THIS you will never need another drill/driver.

I have read some of the reviews on this tool saying it lacks power etc. I first heard about this drill in a trade magazine that gave it a solid review. Looking at some of these Amazon reviews you would think this drill was a hunk of junk. Not true. I am a home builder/remodeler 15 years. I figured I would give it a shot despite the negative reviews. In my opinion it does exactly what a 10.8 volt drill should do. Nothing more, nothing less. The battery lasts long and the drill fits in a large pocket perfect. The 30 min. charger is compact and fast.
This little drill packs a punch. Thank you, Bosch!

This quality little drill / electric screwdriver is absolutely wonderful. It's smaller and lighter than a regular drill, but has a lot of power for its size (unlike those 3 to 4 volt "electric" screwdrivers). Rubber grip built-in handle is nice, easy to change bits (just pull, insert, and release), and LED light make this a very comfortable and easy to use tool. I was hesitant because of the price, but finally pulled the trigger and bought one, and I am very happy that I did so. I use this little Bosch drill much more than my bigger and heavier drill, and more as an electric screwdriver than a drill. Very happy with this product and highly recommend it to all.

First let me tell you how this tool is used. I am a painter and a cordless drill/driver, has always been my go to tool, for things like removing switch plates, hanging alittle drywall or patching and repairing, installing and removing shutters, downspouts etc.
br /In the past I always used a 12volt drill/driver tool for those tasks.
br /The little bosch is just the right size tool when all you need is something small like when working from a ladder etc.
br /It has a solid build. It looks like a toy but far from it. Not as powerfull as the 12v makita it replaced but nonless it is up to the tasks above.
br /The clutch works very well with noticeable differances in every postion.
br /Battery life has been excelent and recharges fast.
br /The light helps in low light but as others have said the led is in the
br /wrong position to be a great asset. (but better then nothing)
br /The "cloth" tool bag is the low point for me on this package. Not much room for anything but whats included in the package. Extra bits maybe, but thats it.
br /
br /Bottom line is. Small is good! Highliy recomended. It serves it's purpose for what it was designed to do, quit well, but don't expect it to do the work of a larger or more powerfull tool.

br /It has a solid build.

This screwdriver is more expensive than many others but comes with features others may be missing: two long-lasting batteries, a latching chuck, variable speed starting very low, an automatic brake, an adjustable clutch, and a built-in light.

Bosch has a winner on its hands. I've owned this little driver for a few months now and its exceeded my expectations. I feel like Dirty Harry when i pull this little honey out of my holster, i mean tool belt! I did notice that mine seems to be made in Malaysia vs. Switzerland, although i doubt it changes much. Do yourself a favor and buy a nice kit with all the different attachments so you can get the most use out of it.

I own a solid surface countertop company and I also install cabinets (a lot of cabinets) and I have not found a driver that works better for getting into tight spaces. For countertops i use this driver for getting under the old top to un-screw it. When I install new tops I use this to secure my supports to the cabinets. When I am installing cabinets this driver is great for fastening cabinets together for a tight fit. Even with a drill bit in I have no problems getting it into a twelve inch wide cabinet (Something my Dewalt 18v would not even dream of) The only draw back is that when I fasten cabinets to the wall I use 3" wood screws and this driver really lags down when it gets deep into the stud so I usually keep the Dewalt 18v loaded with a driver bit for this. Depending on the size of the kitchen I can typically hang all the wall cabinets and all the base cabinets on one charge.
Versatility and size are the greatest part of this driver, no questions asked!

I got this pocket driver knowing it won't replace my 24v hammer drill. And thats why I got it to drive and drill small screws and small holes, and this Bosch does it well with long battery life for the small task it was designed for. I'm work for a small high end conservatory biz, and we build high end
houses also. We do a lot of one of a kind work and this pocket driver serves me well, it will you too if you don't treat it like it should be a 18v or larger drill. I'm very happy with it installing doors and the like, the battery last very well for its size. One of the best clutches I've used for a driver.

This unit has excellent bult quality. Feels real solid. The torque clutch works great and the lithium battery is awsome and it lasts quite a bit. Since the packs get charged in half a hour, it really doesn't matter how long the charge lasts because you get two packs. So unless you use the drill so much that you ran out of charge in less than half an hour, you pretty much can have unlimited juice... real nifty.
Only drawback is that it should include a keyless chuck, so you can use it with regular drills. Aside from that is should get five stars.

I am really impressed with this driver. As many of the reviews have said, it is light, and really great for driving smaller screws. One of the things that has impressed me has been its durability. Recently, I was working on installing something on the ceiling of my garage, and the driver fell off the ladder and hit the concrete. I was sure that it was destroyed. Nope! It ran fine. Unfortunately, it fell a second time while working on another project. Again, it ran like it never fell. What a terrific tool!

This is just a terrific tool! The other reviewers are right - it will drive up to 3" screws if called for but its real advantage is its ability to drive small cabinet screws for long periods in a very lightweight and powerful package. Excellent for both professionals and homeowners. I wish it had come in a hard case, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

The Bosch PS20-2 driver is a great tool for use around the shop. It performs as expected but beware of Amazon's promotions for Bosch Clic-Change driver bit sets. Amazon advertises these as accessories to the PS20-2 driver. The Clic-Change, by itself, is better than any other quick-change chuck that I have tried, but beware: some of the Clic-Change models have a 1/2-in diameter shank which is not compatable with the PS20-2's 1/4-inch chuck.

This tool is outstanding as long as you understand that it is just a cordless screwdriver. It wasn't meant to replace a DRILL (cordless or corded). It is an excellent driver with lots of power and long battery life. I often use it like a drill and I'm still impressed with its performance, even though it won't beat a good quality cordless 18V drill.
I purchased this tool back in early fall of 2006 to replace a similar type Skil cordless driver that only lasted three weeks and was a horrible purchase at $49. I primarily purchased this driver because I'm remodeling just about every room of my two story house and I hate hauling my corded drill around. I'm making all my own raised panel cabinet doors from hard maple. This tool has no problem driving the 1/2" hinge screws into the hard maple with proper size pilot holes. I find myself rarely using my full size corded drill because of the convenience of my Bosch driver. I also use it to add accessories to my fiberglass boat on a regular basis. It's so nice not to have to deal with an extension cord when working in the tight confines of the bilge.
Several have complained about the tool only using driver drill bits, but that's the main thing I like about it. The quick change driver bits are great for most applications. I purchased a driver bit set at a hardware store that came with everything I need including several sockets to supplement the small selection that came with the tool. The accessory case fits perfectly in the soft case provided by Bosch.
The battery lasts a long time and having two is quite convenient. I've recharged both batteries lots of times and they still last as long as when they were new.

This thing has good power in a small package. It's nice and light, and it fits into small spaces. My only negative, which is a small gripe, is that the bit removal seems to be counter-intuitive compared with similar tools I've used. Instead of pulling the release towards the trigger, you pull away from it. Maybe I'm just used to my old DeWalt. Still an excellent product though. I'd buy it again.

All the good stuff in the other reviews is right on - this little marvel is a workhorse with plenty of power that lasts and lasts. I'm not sure why people want to put a real chuck on this, it's a driver NOT a drill. If you want a drill, get the PS40.

br /My only peeve is the reversing switch. I have good sized hands and it's almost impossible to screw in more than 3-4 screws before moving it accidentally with the side of your index finger. I guess I was spoiled by the Makita 9.6V drills with a switch on the back, reachable by your thumb but out of the way, which was a lot more secure than the sideways slide switch (which my DeWalt drill has too).
br /
br /Update June, 2008 - I still love this little driver, and I feel compelled to clarify the switch issue: If you're not a lefty like me, the problem isn't so bad, but it's still an annoyance.

I'm an admitted tool junkie that really needs to start some 12 step program or pray for an intervention episode. Each purchase involves hours of research since competing products at a similar price point can be very different in quality and effectiveness. Bosch seems to occupy the lion''s share of my tools and for good reason. They're always innovative, the quality is felt as soon as you hold their products and they seem to give years of trouble free service. This driver is no exception. My favorite driver/drill, though, had been the Panasonic EY6432GQKW 15.6-Volt. This Bosch though is physically smaller so works in tighter work situations, it's lighter and easier to carry around with you also causing less fatigue, the construction screams quality, and the power is more than adequate for anything you need to fasten. The quick release chuck is a pleasure to use especially when switching between driver bits and the Bosch quick fit drill bits so you don't need to have a separate drill and driver or waste time changing between the two. The batteries charge very quickly and seem to last forever on a charge. Even for a tool lover this thing is an uncommon delight. You'll find yourself tempted to just start disassembling things just for the fun of using this tool. If you need a driver as a DIY person or as a contractor, you won't regret buying this Bosch. Your wife might, when she comes home and finds you disassembling the furniture with a wild look in your eye, though.

Bosch has always made some of my favorite tools. When I saw the Pocket Driver at a trade show and felt how light and powerful it was, I knew I found a great all-around screw driver for my business. I can use it for pocket screw joinery because the torque settings snug things up without crushing the wood. With the variable speed trigger, I can use it for controlled installation/removal of slotted screws. Contrary to some reviews, I even do some light drilling to start small screws (Vix Bits). Three people have tried mine and immediately bought their own. My DeWalt is now only used for drilling holes. Now I'm looking seriously at the Bosch Impact Driver for those screws the Pocket Driver can't handle.

We assemble computers, repair printers, do network installations, build equipment racks. All this gear comes with tons of screws, and assembling 10 machines a day with a manual screwdriver is tiring and time consuming.
br /
br /We used a pen-style 3-Volt cordless driver before the PS20. It had no adjustable clutch, had no speed control, was slow to recharge, and had a very limited torque.
br /
br /This driver is not much bigger than a pen-drive, sits nicely in the hand without fatigue, and the max 700 RPM is exactly what we need to get the job done in a snappy way.
br /
br /What I absolutely love is the wide range of the clutch: No chance to bust the threads of a 2.5 mm metal screw with a low clutch setting, although it goes in at max RPM. The low mass of the chuck is an advantage here.
br /
br /On the highest clutch setting, you need to apply an unexpected force to hold the tool. It can develop a surprisingly high torque for it's size.
br /
br /Bottom line: A lot of recent technology is packed into this tool. It looks like a toy, but is a serious time-saver in a small package.

We've been using this on a boat-building project and are extremely satisfied. Its small size is really nice when driving screws in tight areas, and the amount of torque this thing has is amazing. Battery life between charges is excellent and we've driven screws all afternoon without changing batteries. The soft case is nice because you can set it on finished surfaces without damaging them--nice around the house and not something I can say about my other power tools. Bosch has always made nice stuff and this is one more.

My choice for this driver was based on years of using 12 or 14.4V drivers to hinge cabinet doors. Such overkill! After 50 doors and drawer fronts( 6 to 8 small screws per unit), your arm yells enough! With that amount of fatigue, it's only a matter of time before you slip, and scar an expensive door. This little driver is very light and comfortable. It has more power than I anticipated. A nice plus, and the LED offers a small amount of light, if you're attaching a moulding, fixture or valance underneath a wall cabinet. Longevity? Well, will just have to see. I also like the soft case. Takes up less room, and if it falls off the seat in your cab, and lands on your foot, you can still work!

This beauty is the right size, the right weight and has the right power. It's just perfect for me. It feels good in my hands. It does what I ask it to do. It never annoys me. I have used it for weeks now on many projects and have not charged the battery yet. The led light is invaluable for finding a screw in the dark recess of a cabinet. It has become my tool of choice for 90% of my drill/driving tasks. I use a miniature drill chuck adapter for when I need to drill a hole that is not covered by the bit sizes available with the insert able ones. Of course I still get out the trusty old Makita or Dewalt 12V for those really big tasks or heavy drilling, but mostly they now sit on a shelf, feeling left out. Bosch really out did themselves this time. Thanks Bosch!! I'm a happy camper.

I've been looking for a replacement for my Skil driver since it gave up the ghost. I've tried a lot of drivers, and nothing measured up to the power, size, and ease of use. Until now. This Bosch driver has the right mix of size, power, battery life, and ease of use. I can't find a flaw w/ it.
I didn't expect it to be of much use in drilling, but even that works. I've used the PS20-2 on a desk project. None of my drills, cordless or corded, would fit in the two boxes that make up to base of the desk. The PS20-2 came to the rescue, drilling holes, driving screws. After the initial charge, I've yet to have to recharge the battery.

I bought this tool to be a screwdriver and light duty drill/driver for work around the house or in places where I don't want or need to drag my 18v or even 12v out. This tool is great for those tasks where before I'd just use my manual screwdriver because using the drill wasn't worth getting it out. I also think this will be great for electrical work in an attic or light plumbing in crawlspaces because it is so small and light, yet powerful. Let's not forget the best part which is the adjustable clutch which will actually ONLY drive a screw in as hard as you would want to by hand, unlike the brute 18v and 12v drill/drivers which even on the lowest setting will drive a screw right through a wall plate. I put in some hinges and door locks and didn't have to worry about the drill driving the screws in so hard it stripped the hole -- with the Bosch the screws are set about as tight as you could do it by hand on the lower settings which is perfect. I don't know why one would complain that it doesn't have a chuck -- it's a driver after all, not a drill. And the price, while perhaps not cheap, is well worth it for a tool which is portable, powerful, and useful. You pay for quality. And you get it with this tool. I even like the case...

I think this tool the Best Cordless Lithium Driver out there for a 10.8 Volt at it's size and weight!
Cons: The light has a bad angle to the tip, it points below the area where the screw is and the case that comes with it, is a soft case "pretty cheap in design" and not thought out well. But I still think it's a really good and powerful tool for it's size!

This little drill is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I am a woman in my 60's with arthritis in my hands, so I went looking for a small drill that would be easy for me to handle. Boy, did I find the right one!
The drill is very lightweight, has a super easy "pull out" bit inserter (no chuck keys here!) and has a wonderful little light that makes it much easier to see what you're doing. The battery life is simply amazing (it comes with 2 batteries and a charger and takes only about 1/2 hour to fully recharge). My husband and I have been remodeling our house and this drill has been invaluable. My son-in-law, who is a professional carpenter, was here yesterday doing a multiplicity of jobs and he was SO impressed with this little Bosch drill that he never even took his big, heavy drill out of his toolbox. I did buy a set of extra Black & Decker bits to be able to cover any situation (even has hex bits in the case).
My daughter, who was here also, found the drill extremely easy to use while we were doing other odd jobs. They were both so impressed with the drill that now we know what they're getting from us for Christmas. You can't go wrong with this little gem!

The only gripe I have is that the LED shines below the point of the driver. It's basically useless and I actually wish I could shut it off. Other than that, this is a great little driver that will handle most anything you throw at it except commercial construction. For a homeowner or contractor looking for something small and durable for trades work, you won't go wrong. If you are doing anything heavy duty, a 14.4 or 18 is a better bet, but this will do for everything else. Pistol is a little thick but very comfy. Well built.
I can't say enough good about this tool.

I am adding my review, only to supplement the other ones as all the good points have been said. I should add that i'm not a contractor, so this tool will not be tested daily for it's longevity, durability, etc. I am an enthusiast of many things, including building computers, wrenching on my own cars, handyman-type stuffs, landlording, woodworking and the list goes on. I predict this will be my "go-to" tool, replacing my larger 18v Ryobi and 14.4v dewalt for 80% of tasks.
I will add or reinforce a few facts.
1. This "Pocket Driver" is not to be a drill replacement but will drill small holes, just fine. Honestly it's not fast enough to drill a ton of holes into wood, but is upto the job a few at a time, I feel.
2. The low drive speed is, in my mind, appreciated. The chances of the driver's bit slipping at 400 RPM is slim to none. Therefore, you get to use the power of the device to drive screws, not strip or break them.
3. This thing is very small, yet not a toy. It's a true tool and with the adjustable torque, a useful tool.
This tool isn't cheap and is as much as double what some comparable models could cost. Don't let that stop you, it's worth buying this one, so that the other ones don't get lost in the mix of other useless junk. It's a keeper. I'm hoping that Bosch follows suit and makes additional, Light (and light duty?) tools (what they'd add i don't know-hey, surprise me!! (= ).

So far I am very pleased with the Bosch Pocket Driver. It is very lightweight and compact. It has good power for it's size. This is my first "chuckless" driver so I didn't think of drill bits until I had already gotten it and needed to do some drilling. This is an extra expense and something of a hassle as I already have several standard drill indexes in various places for use with all the other drill/drivers I have. So, anyone purchasing this should remember to get a set of hex drivers to go with it.

This tool makes aggravating and difficult home improvement "projects" easy and even almost fun. So light and compact it fits into weird corners, closets, and other tight spots and is easy to use overhead. I used it to change window treatments on 40 windows and didn't curse or cry even once! If you own a fixer upper get one of these.

Got tired of dealing with a 14 volt drill/driver. Just more torque and power than I needed about 90% of the time. This little drill/driver is just the tool for most of my projects. Easy to use and light weight. More power than I expected. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

One of the best cordless tools I've ever owned. It's lightweight and powerful and fits my hand like a glove. Having said that, my hand measures 8" from the tip of my middle finger to my wrist. In a smaller hand it might actually be difficult to grip to tool properly. It's definitely a power screwdriver and not a drill. I wouldn't try drilling with it because at 0-400 rpm it's just not fast enough. I use this tool in light duty telecoms and electrical work and it's perfect. I highly recommend this tool.

I received this as a Christmas gift from my wife. (It came with a bonus flashlight) I was amazed at how quickly both of the batteries (one came with the flashlight) got fully charged. The driver is very light. If you have ever held a 12v or larger NiCad drill/driver for awhile you know what I mean. While it is small and light if is very powerful. Stops very quickly when you release the trigger and RPM is very easy to control. The quick release chuck works perfectly and the small light is a nice touch. I wanted this to do work in tight places but I think it might become my favorite around the house drill/driver

I wanted to purchase a power screwdriver and was considering the "stick" models from brands "Yellow" and "Green". I though that at this point in time it really makes sense to go with Lithium Ion battery technology so that eliminated "Yellow". I also wanted a variable speed trigger so that knocked "Green" out of the running. I initially passed over the Bosch Pocket Driver because it wasn't a "stick" model and it was north of $100 but after looking at the specs and reading the reviews I decided to go for it. WOW! The Bosch Pocket Driver is much better than I expected. Don't let it's small size fool you, this is definitely a pro quality tool and it's loaded with power! Full disclosure here, I'm not a contractor but I do demand top quality from my tools and in my opinion the Bosch Pocket Driver delivers everything it promises and more!
The build quality of the tool is excellent but some may be disappointed to learn that both the tool and battery are made in Malaysia and not Switzerland where some of the Bosch's other tools are made. I won't comment any further on that, I'm here to review the tool and not to debate global economics but the bottom line is that the quality is superb. The tool feels great in your hand. The trigger action is very smooth and easy to control. The forward/reverse/lock lever is very easy to reach and use. The adjustable clutch turns very smoothly throughout it's entire range. The clutch is very usable and changing it by just one notch does make a difference! Up until now I always thought that LED work lights built into tools were kind of gimmicky. Not so with the Bosch Pocket Driver, the light works superbly. Squeeze the trigger a little bit and the light comes on. It's very bright and is positioned nicely so that most of the shadow cast by the front of the tool is eliminated. Like most "white" LED's, it does have a slight blue/gray cast but it is still very bright and a nice feature to have.
The soft case holds the tool, battery charger and both batteries quite comfortably. Unfortunately, there isn't room for many bits but this isn't very much of a drawback for me. Perhaps the only thing I can say negative about this tool is that there is a very noticeable spark that can be seen through the vent in the rear of the housing when the electric brake engages. This is especially true when coming to a stop from full speed. It's definitely a larger spark than I've seen from other power tools but does stay within the housing. It's not like it jumps out or anything. It's most likely normal considering this is a compact tool with a lot of power but I'll probably contact Bosch and ask them about it anyway just for my own piece of mind. Basic safety rules tell us never to use power tools in explosive environments because their motors naturally spark. This tool will definitely remind you of that. You don't want to be hanging a picture for Mom when her oxygen tank is in use!
Bosch may have named this tool the "Pocket Driver" but with the proper accessories it can do much more! Look carefully and you'll notice that accessory companies are coming out with more and more products with quick change shanks. This is the type of setup required the Bosch Pocket Driver. I went to the "Blue" home center store and purchased a 15 piece set of titanium coated drill bits with quick change shanks for only $20.00. This set is sold under their own house brand which begins with the letter "K". They even sell all of the bits separately in case you break one! While there I also noticed several other accessory manufacturers producing products with quick change shanks. This makes Bosch Pocket Driver an extremely versatile tool and not just a screwdriver.
The Bosch Pocket Driver is a professional level tool with plenty of power and excellent features. It's not going to replace your 18 volt (or larger) drill but it's surprisingly capable for it's size. Purchasing the right accessories can make it more versatile than just a screwdriver. Highly recommended!

Well, there are already a lot of reviews of this bad boy, but I thought I'd still throw my 2 cents in. I am a computer technician by trade, a decent amount of my work involves taking a computer apart to find or replace faulty hardware. Now a 10.8v driver is a bit exsessive for taking screws out of a PC. But let me tell you this, with the extender bit I bought when I'm at a clients business working on their PC's thanks to this I have the speed of a Nascar pit crew working on a car. By hand it takes forever to get 8-10 (or even more) screws out of a PC. My old Black Decker cordless was ok, but it was bulky and couldn't get into small spaces easy.
br /
br /This Bosch is a DREAM tool, with the extended bit I can get to hard to reach screws with easy, and wit the wand (don't know what else to call it. It makes getting non magnetic screws back to their holes a piece of cake. I have used it for non PC stuff, I put up a towel rack toilet paper holder. The speed and power were perfect and the adjustable torque means I never over tighten or strip a screw. As far as battery life the manual claims you can drive 100 3" screws, while I've never done that so I can't comment on accuracy. I have worked on hundreds of computers and only had to recharge once. Granted computer screws are nothing next to 3" wood screws. But I did get weeks of every day use out of it. Overkill for PC work maybe, but such a beautiful tool. It also looks very nice, when I pull it out and go to work I usually have 1 or 2 people ask me about it.
br /
br /This isn't cheap but you get what you pay for, having an extra battery + the charger being so fast this is the tool to get. The only con I would say I have with it, I don't like the fabric case that comes with it, I would have much prefered a metal or at least hard plastic one. Aside from that

Drove self taping screws all day into a roof of a 2 car garage with TIN all day. My brother used it a lot and he stated he wished ALL his tools had a bright LED like that when the daylight started to fade out on us. We only used one battery but I had another one charged and ready to go. The first one did not loose power or die on us. That's a lot of screws.

I bought one of these for use in a contract manufacturing environment. I'm the manager of several mechanical assemblers and just received a new contract to build laptop docking stations. These kits come with 2 batteries and a super charger that recharges the batteries in just 30 minutes. They will last up to 4 hours of constant use. Tongue is perfect and very easy to adjust. Not overly noisy like some impact guns. This is a nice smooth operation driver that does what it is supposed to do very nicely. I bought a second one for the same use. I'm not only a manager, I'm an assembler too. Had to have one myself.

Great drill. We've been remodelling and the contractors kept using it they loved it so much. They liked the fact that they were able to use it all day without changing the battery and it was so small and light that it fit in their tool belt. The carpenter and electrican both ended up buying one.

Every cordless tool in my arsenal is a DeWalt and I swear by them, but when I just need to drive a few screws (300) or put a piece of furniture together the Bosch is the BOMB !!!. I no longer have to drag out the heavy (in comparison)18V Dewalt drill, to perform light to medium tasks around the house. I can't believe how often I use the Bosch PS20, all I can say is buy one, you won't be sorry !!!!!!

This is a great tool for driving screws. I have used it for hanging curtain rods, and assembling a cat tower. The tool is light, small and powerful. However, it is only suitable for driving screws. It is not a drill. Well, drilling holes in drywall maybe. Anyway, a great driver. I would agree that the case seems to be an afterthought. The case is pretty cheap and poorly designed.
If you want a small light and powerful driver, get this. I'm glad I did.

I heard about this drill on Bob & Tom radio talk show in the morning. I ordered it for myself for christmas. Great drill and the battery life is amazing. The drill works and takes up less space than a regular drill. It actually has enough torque to turn your hand when you tighten it fully down. Now the next step is a hammer drill.

This is a gem of a driver. It is lightweight when compared to the FireStorm drill/driver I normally use. I tested it. The Bosch has all the torque needed to drive 2 1/2 inch decking screws into a poplar board without a pilot hole. It didn't even bog down.
A surprise with the delivery was a swivel head flash light that runs on one of the lithium-ion batteries. Very bright, weighs as much as a pencil. Something I really didn't need, but it's cool to have for free.
A drill this thing is not! But for a driver it's a hardnosed grunt. Regular driver bits will fit. It has a collar spring lock that keeps the bit very secure. It fits my hand like a glove. No more 4 pound drivers or 1 pound drivers with no torque. Wish I had gotten this sooner.

I have tried both drill and impact driver. Drill just perfect for electrician to mount boxes to metal studs ,all day long and not having to carry 18V (100 lbs wink, wink ) drill that can do just about all. It fits well in a pouch right next to other things and you don't need to carry separate pouch for it. A lot quieter then their impact driver, however bit less powerful.

Does just about everything one could expect. Drives #8 screws, and drills modest bore holes. Great for hanging drywall. It doesn't have the torque of my 19.2V drill, but most of the time I don't need it. I particularly like the small, lightweight tool that fits in an apron pocket. The quick fit locking system works like a charm. Some other brand "quick fit" bits fit but don't lock. They do, however, stay in because of Bosch's spring chuck. The Li-ion battery system is streets ahead of Ni-Cad.I shopped a while and this looks to me like the best choice in lightweight, convenient, drill drivers.

I bought this a few weeks ago and it has quickly become a shop workhorse for me. It comes with a 30 minute charger, two batteries and a case. It has a quick-release chuck, which means it won't take normal drill bits or driver heads, only ones designed for use in a quick release chuck.
I have used it mostly as a screwdriver - if I'm doing drilling and driving I keep my 18v DeWalt handy for the drilling and use the Bosch for the driving. I've used in for driving 2 in screws in 3/4 inch plywood and for things like putting up shelf brackets and making jigs. I haven't had any problems with power, even drilling the pilot hole two sizes down for softwoods.
It has a built in light which does a pretty good job of illuminating the work piece. The light comes in surprisingly handy working outside, especially now as the days get shorter.
One of the best aspects is the size - it fits easily in my tool pouch, unlike most cordless drills.

Comes with 2 rechargeable batteries. If you have a full day of screwing and drilling ahead, you can always have one battery in the charger while working.
Safety switch, forward/reverse, variable speed, adjustable clutch to prevent stripping screws, mini spotlight, and to top that off, durable travel case!
Don't waste money on a pos made of plastic that won't last the summer. This thing is top quality.

I like this tool, it is compact enough to fit in your pocket but delivers screw driving capability equal to most 12v full size drivers that I've used. The light is a nice feature. I found the small size to be very handy when driving pocket screws in a place that was a little tight. It will work as a drill but the speed is too low to be very good for drilling. If you have only one driver and you do much drilling I wouldn't pick this puppy but for the guy who drives a lot of screws it's great.

I bought this for my kitchen contractor as a "tip" for work he did. (Hey, it's classier than giving $$ and he did a great job). He has raved about it each time I have seen him since. He confirms all the things I had hoped: light, powerful, small, and the little LED light has received more press than anything else (he installs a lot of cabinets).

Recently found the battery life is not as stated 100 3" screws per charge (about 60 2" screws). I noticed different motor sounds between the one bought at Amazon and at Homedepot. And the one got from Amazon seems to have less torque?! Wish I'm fine for the long run. I aslo tried the drill capability and it is fine for small job as well. Overall it is pretty good.
I first bought the RIDGID 24V version driver/Drill in a package with a reciprocating saw. After trying it, only the driver/drill serves me well. After talking with Homedepot sales, I decide to return it and get a driver set only. I ended up with this model for the sake of battery and light weight. Once I got it home. Men, this thing rocks! It charges quick and deliver lots of torque which I can't tell the differences between Bosch PS20 and RIDGID 24v for 2 inch screw, though the speed is not fast. Since changing windows won't need too much screw, it serves me very well.
I also bought a DelWalt 1/4" interchangeable tool set. It has extension with screw guide tube, all kinds of screw head, basic sets of drills and little tools to drive your wrench set. Basically it immediately turned all my hand tool to power driven!! It's a must have type of company.
I think I won't try to drill holes with it since it's RPM is only 400. So I'll use it as it is designed for.
After comparing the price, I decide to return it to Home Depot and buy from Amazon. It saved me $40(only $104.84 plus free 2 day shipping). And amazingly, after only one day, the tracking told me that my PS20 is on the way for delivery. I couldn't wait to see it at home. Amazon did a excellent job on delivery.
By the way, the one I ordered from Amazon is made in Malaysia, while the one I bought at Homedepot is made in Thailand. So it seems it is made everywhere.
It is a power DRIVER not a DRILL. Take it seriously!!
Enjoy it!

Enjoy it!

Great light-weight driver with plenty of torque for its size. I purchased a Hitachi 3/8" Key-Chuck with 1/4" square drive to make it really versitile. Attached a 2" dia dirt auger in the chuck to make 10" deep holes in clay soil for fertilizing my trees. This was more torque than the tool would deliver if it was fed to quickly into the ground but, even though I stalled it several times, it completed more than 30 holes on one charge. Slipped in the second battery and completed the job.

I love this drill/driver. Even my wife was impressed. It has great power, and the batteries last well. Also, I found the built-in light helpful when working inside a cabinet. My only gripe is when using it in its drill mode. Using the larger size bits works okay, but the first time I used one of the small bits, it broke off in the wood. You can't put a new bit into the hex bit holder which is solidly attached to the bit.

This is the kind of tool that ends up within arms reach almost regardless of what I'm up to. Fits to my hand like it was custom made for me. Powerful for something so small. Battery seems to last forever, and charges in a very short time.
If I had lots of screws to drive, I'd use a full size drill with a higher top speed and even more power because that's what they're designed to do. The Bosch Pocket Driver is the convenient, gutsy drill/driver that you can stuff into your pocket and take with you wherever you're headed. Fabulous tool.

First off, to all of the reviews here that state the Bosch PS20-2 is not a very good drill. No Kidding. This thing is not a drill but a driver. A crescent wrench doesn't make a very good hammer either, but I have seen people use one as so. If I had to use it to drill, I wouldn't like it either. For one thing it does not have a chuck to hold a drill bit. I have a cordless Bosch drill and I like that as well but this is for a different purpose. I use this for installing finish telephone work. Installing phone plates, mounting equipment and the like. For this type of thing it is perfect, It is lighter, Fits better in my tool pouch, But the most important thing to me was the variable speed. I have always had trouble getting a screw started with a driver that starts at full speed. The bit seems to jump out of the screw. Start off slow then once it gets going pull the trigger to get to full speed. I could not be happier with it. If you decide to get this driver you will not be disappointed as long as you know you are not going to use it as a drill.

I've owned several descent cordless drivers but this one has to be the best! Ergonomically comfortable, perfect size and all of the power that you could ask for. It'll turn a screw just like an 18 volt gun! Buy both the impact and the non-impact machines for the perfect drilling/screwing operation.

This product will not replace a true drill/driver. It is the perfect compliment to these and does 75% of what a larger drill/driver is typically used for. For the apartment dweller this is all you need. Serious do it yourselfers like myself will find themselves using it for many instances where they used to lug their 18v dewalt around.

This is an excellant tool to have. Will it replace the 18v drill sets? absolutely not. But for someone who has arthritis in their hands it is awesome to have for the smaller jobs of driving screws. for the size I was surprised at the power this rascal has. great for smaller hands, I can grab it up, drill a ton of screws and be done.2x the price of the black & decker i bought my wife, but for me the extra power/torque was well worth it. Would like a nice set of bits with it tho.

not have the RPM to be a good drill, but with its light weight and small

This has become one of the most reached for and appretiated tools in my box. I use this on aircraft and just love it. It's even better than the Snap On driver because you never have to worry about stripping out screws with it. It's compact size and 'torqueyness' make it invaluable when disassembeling and reassembeling access panels. It comes with two batteries, so if you wear one down you just switch it out with the spare on the charger and it'll be ready by the time you kill off the charged battery (although I usually just charge it at night and am good for the entire day). However, I do stick to air powered drill motors for drilling into sheet metal because I sheered one of my bits using it once. Well worth the cash!

I am a woman and love this drill--It is easier for me to use than the DeWalt we had. I gave that to my brother-in-law. It is a little pricey considering it only comes with 2 bits but having 2 lithium batteries is a god-send when working on projects around the house and not being as heavy is important to me. I have a little Skil cordless that I use for the small jobs. This is a perfect compliment. So far, we haven't found anything it can't do for our remodeling around the house.

The Bosch Ps20-2 is one of best drill kits I have ever owned. It's lite weight coupled with the long lasting batteries makes you not want to put it down. I have found uses for this drill that the standard size drills were too bulky to handle. The amount of torque that it has rivals some of it's 18 volt competitors. This was a great gift, and I use every chance I can.

If you have shopped for a powerful drill, you know that the batteries get bigger and heavier with more power. I am a woman and have fairly small hands- and I have one of those big battery drills. It is nice, but cumbersome. I was looking for a small but powerful drill for use around the house and in projects. I was pleasantly surprised to unpack this drill and find that it is nice and small- and that it fits my hand and is not heavy. I was hoping that it had enough power to drive screws into studs, and to not bog down on power use. What I have found with every use is that it has more than enough power to do the job. I am so happy with this little drill, that I seldom even use my bigger battery drill from Sears. The only drawback that I can see is that the chuck is not a traditional tightening chuck, but a quick release type that takes the bits that have the quick grab base. You can't put a traditional drill bit directly in the quick release chuck without an adapter. So far, since I have bits that work in most projects that fit this drill, I haven't needed an adapter. When I do need a drill bit - I use my traditional drill. If you want power, smaller size, quick changing of bits and a drill that has variable speeds in the trigger, long life batteries, and adjustable torque, you can't go wrong here. The price is a tad bit more- but you won't be sorry. It even has a light for seeing the drive in tight places. Awesome little drill!!!

PROs: Powerful/tons of torque, small, great grip/feel, great quality, great battery/run-time, nice/useful case, very versatile, trigger pressure laser pointer lights up work area, good/useful range on clutch, fits very small work places & most tool pouchs/holsters,.
CONs: Not the easiest or best of collar/releases, but strong & once you are used to it OK. Slow on high-speed chores, not good for drilling or high-speed tool use.

I bought this based on need and the recommendations I read here. It is partly taking the place of my big 18v Dewalt driver.
This is going to be one of my favorite tools. It has power, small size and it is very easy to use. Incidentally my wife likes using it too! The smaller size works great for her smaller hands. It is simple in design, easy to use, has a ratcheting feature and variable speed (which really is useful when starting screws without a pilot hole or if you didn't use a punch to start a divot when drilling into steel or wood)
The battery charges quickly and easy to change. My driver came with a free flashlight and an extra battery that fits the flashlight and driver to boot. All in great carrying case.
I bought this driver, the counter bit set and the Bosch kit with the quick clic change drill bits, and assortment of nut drivers and screwdrivers. These two products are a perfect match and don't buy one without the other. You wont be disappointed.
I highly recommend this tool. It out performs my Dewalt in many ways.

I was using the Dewalt DW920k screwdriver before this & through all the abuse and torture I put that through, it always felt heavy duty & worked perfectly.
This Bosch is better in just about every way, except for the fact that it's not as durabe.
These drivers have an adjustable clutch, which allows you to adjust the turning power from very weak, to maximum power. The Bosch's clutch is so dynamic that you can stop the bit with your fingers at the lowest setting.
The clutch also locks the bit in place when not in use, allowing you to manually tighten a screw with these tools by twisting your wrist.
What's bad about the PS20 is that sometimes you have to do a half turn before it actually locks the bit. Sometimes it's locked right away & sometimes it's not. The DW920k locked perfectly every time.
What's great about the PS20 is that you can really tell the difference in torque between clutch settings. It inches the screw forward just a little bit with every clutch change. The DW920k needs about 3-4 clutch changes for it to move the screw once it's already been tightened with a weaker clutch setting.
The DW920k has no LED. I wish the PS20's would stay on for 5 or so seconds after pulling the trigger like the Makita LXT's do. I also would have appreciated a brighter LED, again like the Makita's.
The LED is placed in such a manner that it doesn't actually light up what you're screwing. Instead it lights up just below it, due to the fact that the clutch gets in the way. If you point the PS20 at a wall & turn on the LED, it illuminates a half moon shape. Nice design flaw.
I don't use Craftsman drills, but have noticed that the LED is on the foot of the handle & it points upward, thus illuminating your work in it's entirety. Thanks for thinking, Craftsman.
Still, the LED on the PS20 is nice to have.
The last negative I have on the Bosch is the battery doesn't like winter. I leave my tools in my car. When I bring them into work & it's cold out, the battery will not work. My solution was to leave one battery on the charger at work at all times. The cold tool does work with a room temp battery.
I would recommend the PS20 as a replacement to the 920k, but only if you buy the PS10 to go with it. The reason I tired of my DW920k was the fact that it couldn't get into hard to reach places. The PS10's design eliminates the need for the DW920k, except for the fact that the DW920k feels like a much more comfortable & reliable tool. This is where the PS20 comes in, as it will be what you use the most between this Bosch combo.

The only hitch I have found is it can be slightly underpowered in hard woods and beams but truly it was not designed for it anyhow. also beware if your used to a high rpm drill/driver/impact the low rpms on this unit might surprise you. but the weight and convience more than make up for this trust me.

I have had this screwdriver for a couple of weeks now and could not be happier. I work as an appliance technician and this driver makes my job a lot easier. I had the Milwaukee 6547-22 2.4-Volt Two Speed Cordless Screwdriver for a couple of years prior to getting this one and it served me well, but this one is stronger and the lithium batteries last longer. I would have to swap out the battery after about a day or so with the Milwaukee, so far with this one I get almost 3 days use on one charge. A little thing that I love is the light that comes on when you press the trigger. So many times a screw will be in an area that is not well lit and tough to see and that silly little light helps tremendously. Its a little heavier than the Milwaukee, but is easy to hold and you have good control when using it. One other thing is that you have to pull on the locking sleeve to release the bits as opposed to just popping them in and out on the Milwaukee, but I got use to that quickly and its not a problem. I debated for weeks on buying this one and am very glad I did.

It is very light and managable to use, has a neat light to help me when inside a cabinet up in a corner, and has plenty of power to do even bigger jobs as well. I'd recommend this to everyone, since it had been recommended to me by a commercial builder doing some tile work in our home.

I must admit I bought this drill on an impulse attracted by its small size but it has turned out to be very useful.
The pros
1. The small size. In addition to being very easy to carry around, it also allows me to drill in tight spaces which would previously have required using an angle attachment or super long bit on my full sized Makita cordless to make sure the hole is straight. It is also less tiring on the hand in situations that don't require high torque such as assembling furniture or installing a ceiling fan (which I recently did).
2. Hex shank
I wasn't sure about the lack of chuck at first. For use as a driver it didn't seem to matter as driver bits with quick release hex shanks are common. Eventually, though, I found myself wanting to use it for drilling as well so I researched hex shank drill bits and found this set on Amazon: Stanley ST-04650 14 Piece 1/16-Inch to 3/8-Inch Hex Shank Titanium Twist Drill Bit Assortment which work great. What I particularly like about it is that tiny drill bits no longer slip. With chucked drills, I often find that tiny drill bits get stuck in the wood and the chuck starts to spin. No longer with this tool. For drilling holes bigger than 3/8 inch in wood, I also found a hex shank spade bit set. Of course, these bits can still be used with a chucked drill so they can become your everyday set.
I also like the ease of switching out bits. I used to use two cordless drills for driving screws, one to drill the pilot and one to drive the screw. Now, with the quick release, I use just the Bosch and switch out the bits.
3. LED Light
At first this seemed like a gimmick but it is really useful. If you slightly depress the trigger, you can get the light without starting the bit turning and thus use it to help locate the screw head when the ambient lighting is inadequate.
Cons
While a wonderful tool, it is not, in my opinion, a replacement for a 12 or 14 V full sized driver drill. It does not have enough torque for driving or drilling deep into really tough materials. Also, it's battery does not, of course, last as long as the full sized cordless drill batteries although this is more of a nuisance than a limitation since it comes with two batteries that charge quickly enough that in most cases you can continue to work indefinitely.
Also, there are times when the only bit you have available to do a job will need a chuck.
I would definitely recommend this drill but as a companion for a full sized cordless drill.

Not a problem with this nice driver. I needed something that would be small but powerful for doing electrical jobs on the work site. This has proved to be the ticket. It has a nice grip, good feel and balance that makes this just right for slipping into my tool pouch. It has enough power to drive any drywall screw or electrical device screw all day long. Battery holds its charge remarkable well and then charges quickly when needed. As stated before only negative is the led light not exactly on the screw head but having a small light in your hand at all times is a nice feature even if its not perfect. I would buy this again in a minute if I ever had to replace it again for any reason. Worth the money!

I've used this drill for a year now and it has become my go-to drill for most tasks. It is a great value and well designed product that really takes advantage of the high power density/compact volume of lithium ion batteries.
br /
br /Pluses:
br /Small compact design
br /Great battery life
br /Holds a charge for months
br /Quick to change from drills to screwdrivers
br /Fits in you pocket (Nice for cold weather use)
br /
br /Minuses(all minor):
br /Case design is a little awkward
br /drills in chuck are a little loose
br /Don't let you friends try it
br /
br /Don't even think of of replacing the 12 and 14 volt ni-cad batteries for your old drill. Its cheaper to get one of these and you'll be happier.

This pocket driver is so wonderful, I want to marry it!! Compact, strong, and lightweight, it's so easy to handle and has such great power!! I use it everyday for work, and with two batteries, you just need to switch every 2 to 3 days (depending on how busy you are), and you always have the strength of a corded driver. And it's so light, you hardly use any strength holding it up. I cannot say enough good things about this driver!! I also saw it at one of the big home improvement stores for lots more. This is such a great buy!!

I originally purchased this tool to help speed up changing the oil on my wife's M45 (okay, an excuse to buy a tool). Honestly, the oil plug and filter are behind an access panel that uses about 18 10mm bolts and this would have taken forever to manual do and my Dewalt drill was too big to work under a car with. It certainly speeds things up. Also helps with DIY home projects. It feels pefect and well balanced in my hand, batteries seem to last forever and charge quickly. Bosch just came out with the 2A that is a 12v version of this same driver.

br /Just two minor complaints: 1) The LED light does not shine where you need it to. 2) Wished it had something that I can store an extra bit on it.

I owned this drill for almost two years and have not found one negative thing about it.
br /It is powerful, I used it to assemble a raised garden bed made out of pine, I even attached a paddle bit to bore large holes on studs so I can feed electrical wire through. It is light, small and yet powerful.
br /I think this is the best drill I've owned ever.

this is an awesome tool. you have to use it for what it is made to do. yes the manufacture says it will screw 100 3" screws on one charge. this is probably in ideal situations screwing tiny screws into balsa wood. do you believe auto manufacturers when they say a truck will get 26 mpg?

I love this little pocket driver. It performs as advertised. The power is excellent for the size compared with similar offerings from Bosch's competitors. It won't replace your 14V or 18V drills, but it is great at driving screws and drilling with a quick connect drill bit. I use it for projects around the house all the time and it performs flawlessly.

Great Tool replaces My 18Volt Drive

I've used this recently on my house addition. I did all the electrical and finish carpentry and floor laying using it. It can be used for small drilling, but its real greatness is in screw driving.
br /
br /The impact driver drives screw so much easier to use than my 18v driver. You just have to press in a little bit at the end of driving the screw to make sure the driver doesn't "bounce" out of the screw head. With a non-impact driver, you have to use both hands on it, and press really hard (at the end of the drive) to have it not cam out. It's really amazing if you've never used an impact driver.
br /
br /I have weak wrists, and this tool really saves me from worrying about straining them. On drywall,I can simply put a screw on the bit, reach up 1-handed where I want to put the screw in, press moderatly and know the screw will go in and be driven all the way in. In fact, the tool is so easy, you have to make sure you don't drive it in too far.
br /
br /It has a small light that can be turned on by slightly pressing the trigger (wich won't turn on the impact motor) so you can see where your driving. The light isn't so strong that you can use it for general task lighting, but its strong enough to see what you need to see in the area around where you want to put the screw into...say a couple of inches in a completly dark room.
br /
br /The tool is well made, the exterior plastic parts are a rubbery feeling plastic that is a little bit heavier than most, but feels good (ie soft) on the hands (has a little give to it when you squeeze the handle). The drill head is metal, and has an easy to release snap in collet for holding bits. You can almost change the bits one handed if your carefull, but generally youre going to do it with 2 hands. You have to pull the outside of the collet out to put a bit in. It takes bits that have to be the ones where thers is a small indent at the bottom of the bit. You can use the ones without, but they can easily fall out. In fact, you'll probably want to invest in a nice bit set when you start using this tool, as you find you'll be reaching for this more and more.
br /
br /The battery is somewhat difficult to remove as it takes alot of pressure to press the battery sides in and then pull out the battery - but you don't often have to change the battery, as they seem to last all day. Sliding in the battery is easy if its aligned correctly (and I always seem to be trying to put the battery in 180, then I catch it and simply rotate it, and it goes in with a snap). Similary, putting the battery into the charger can take more than 1 attempt to get it right..but again I do that so infrequently that its me forgetting how to do it that's the problem.
br /
br /The direction button on the side of the driver, naturally falls on your index finger, and is easy to flip using the index finger and thumb.
br /
br /The tool is small, can fit in your shop or nail apron. Its not incredibly light, but its very much lighter than my 18v full size driver, and being so small, that I'll carry it in my shop apron. I've also picked up the holster for it but haven't used it yet (other than to try it out). Being so small, I'm able to hang the tool on my work shop pegboard - so its even more usefull as I don't have to go find it, or dig it out of a drawer.
br /
br /The lithium battery works differently than the traditionaly nicad battery. It doesn't really slowly run out of power, it sort of stops working when it needs to be charged. I mean, you'll be driving one screw and the next one won't go all the way in. At the end of the drive, where you need most of the torque, the motor just stops turning. If you take the driver off the screw, and press the trigger, the motor turns, but you can't go back and finish of the drive - you gotta change the battery.
br /
br /It comes in various packages, some with a holster, some with a light, etc. It always seems to come with 2 batteries (that charge up in about 1 hour) and a zippereed case. The case is well made too and has some padding to it and room for the charger, driver, and my had some bits in it. You probably won't use the case, unless you travel to the work site often, because you'll use this so often, that you'll want it handy.
br /
br /One more thing, the bits that come with it are very good. When you eventually need to get replacement bits (all bits where out). Make sure to get good ones, as the impact driver will shatter inferior ones.
br /
br /So since I find that since the tool went through a 2 story 1500 ft addition and continues to work without fail, shows no sign of ware, and I continue to use it day to day, I give this tool my highest rating..5 stars.

nice little tool around the house to use and won't take up much room in your tool closet or what have you. the only gripe is you have to buy some sort of an extension to get to some screws not so easily accessible . basically if the screw is wide open you got the perfect little tool but if the screw is a about 3 or so inches deep next to something this tool won't be able to reach that screw, the rotating head gets in the way. hope you guys get my point. need that extension i mentioned earlier, hence 4 stars

I had to check, and recheck, but sure enough, Bosch is now packaging these in a 12volt version being sold at LOWES here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida...Everything else looks identical (case,2 batts, charger, etc), just the batts are now 12 volts! Bosch claiming increased speeds and torque! The price for this "High Voltage" versions wes $128USD as of 7/21/08. Odd. I couldn't find ANY supporting literature on the higher volt versions and include the PS20 models as well-
br /
br /Update 7/28. Actually more of a question and some more news on the 12v batts:
br /
br /I've purchased the PS40. Just a short time ago, Bosch was offering a free PS20 with the purchase of a PS40. Can anyone give a good reason[s] why you'd want a PS20 with poorer lighting and less speed and torque if you have the PS40? The PS40 is of course an impact driver, now being packaged with a 12v battery, but if you look at the specs, there is barely any diffence under load!! A bare PS20 is still available for under $50. Anyway, I'd appreciate anyone willing to share their logic on this one. And THANK YOU in advance for taking the time to do so.

What a great little driver! I had to re-assemble my backyard storage shed over the weekend and I decided to re-build it using screws. I would have typically dragged out my heavy cordless drill and would have been exhaused after several hours of use. I used this little driver and was able to drive in about a hundred 2" and 2 1/2" coated deck screws without any problem! And this little driver is so small and light, I was also able to simply tuck it into the front pocket of my tool belt like it was in a holster. At the end of the day, I realized that it was still in my tool belt for the entire day without even noticing it was there. And the light came it very handy for those screws that were is slightly shaded corners. Overall I would recommend this little driver without hesitatation! Keep up the great work Bosch!!

First off let me explain my backround. I am a contractor in the midwest that has been working in the industry for over 15 years. I have my own cabinet, wood and metal working shop. I do everything from welding and metal to designing and custom building cabinets and furniture.
Now the Bosch driver...This is one of the finets tools I have ever used, and I have used just about everything like this on the market, if it was a well built tool. I dont use tools that are not designed to take a little abuse. I dont care how much it costs if it does the job and saves me time. Thats exactly what this tool does. It is not a drill, its a driver, so the whole "I want a drill or jacobs chuck" thing doesnt even matter. And furthermore, its not a replacement for an 18V drill/driver/impact. It doesnt have the power or speed of an 18V, but then again it isnt even 1/3 the size and weight. This driver is perfect for driving cabinet screws or even a few deck screws. Use this tool for what it was designed for, and it performs exceptionally. The price for it is reasonable as well, in my opinion. Overall this tool is perfect when used for the intended purpose. Feel free to critique or comment on my review, I welcome the comments. But make sure you have valid points and give me some of your backround as to your expertise when it comes to tools.

I have had the pocket driver for about a week, and have been amazed and delighted at the ergos, the weight and the power. It's tough for a tool to live up to the hype, but this seems to. It's a great complement to the 18v Milwaukee, which has all the brute force I need.
I am enjoying this precision tool and suspect that most folks will. It's just what you need, without a lot of bells and whistles that are rarely used. I snapped a 2" extender in that helps the angle and lets me use cheap 1" inserts, as well as locating slotted screws.
Now I wish Bosch would make an impact driver with this power system.

After 1.5 months EVERYDAY in the shop building cabinet boxes, (2 guns, 4 batteries) we have found the battery does not hold up. At first they would last almost 2 days! Now about 1 hour before failing, YES all of them! As a side note we also found the lack of some sort of clip on the top of the gun to hang the gun off your belt, ladder, or whatever is a BIG problem with a 6" driver. I give this gun 1 star due to the battery problem. I am going to be returning them both as I find it hard to believe this is a remote problem. Take the charger with you if you're off site. Eventually yours will perform the same. To bad it's a pretty cool little gun
MY FIRST REVIEW>>>>
Hey It's a SCREW GUN! Not a drill. So it has the "Drill" as a clutch setting but it's not a drill! So I do not understand the feedback on the chuck? Why my 4 stars? Because the case is just an after-thought! Also I hope Bosch can do some foreseeing and build the same gun, same battery but as a DRILL (Higher speed w/ jacobs chuck).
We are a high end cabinet shop we use these guns for installs (3-1/2" to 4" square drive screws into studs). The guys liked them so much they are using in the shop for case building (1-1/2" Zip-R screws into Melamines).

We are a high end cabinet shop we use these guns for installs (3-1/2" to 4" square drive screws into studs). The guys liked them so much they are using in the shop for case building (1-1/2" Zip-R screws into Melamines).

I love this drill/driver. It is light but sturdy, padded and very comfortable to hold. It came powered and hasn't quit through several days of fix up projects.
The retail price of this item is $129.00. Amazon's list price of $215 is a gross exaggeration. This is not the first time I have seen Amazon be dishonest about the list price.
Buy this great drill from Amazon or off the shelf, whichever works for you. You will be getting a great drill at a manageable price, but not the bargain that Amazon is pretending to offer.

Great for the little jobs. Doesn't hold up well if you need to counter sink a screw.
How can I say anything more positive?

After seeing 88 reviews here about this drill, how could I possibly add to the great reviews? Perhaps just the fact that I feel the need to promote this drill is enough to persuade you to buy it!
I work in the home theater and home automation industry. I install plasma tvs, in wall and in ceiling speakers, I work with a lot of old work boxes and wall plates, I also build heavy duty equipment racks that use a ton of machine screws. I can go pretty much a whole day on one charge depending on what I'm getting in to. This drill is perfect to keep on a shelf in your work truck or probably even in a glove box!
I wasn't too thrilled about walking out of The Depot having spent over $100 on this knowing full well there were a number of other brands for less money. I know Bosch is good stuff though so I spent the extra $30 on this one and I swear this is one of the best purchases I have ever made in the Tool Corral!!
The only negative I can say about this is sometimes I wish it was a little more powerful, but that's like saying I wish I could win a race against a Porche in my VW!
If you're considering a small light weight screw driver you don't have any choice but to save up and get this one :-)

I have tons of DeWalt and other professional tools. This is one to add. It is very light weight but has a lot of torque and gets the job done. The fact that you do not have to keep it on charge is a big plus to me. The carrying case is great. I wish they had left enough room for drill bits and scredriver bits in the case... I highly recommend this handy tool.

I purchased this compact 10.8 Lithium-Ion drill/driver with the expectations that it would match the power of the 7.2V NiCad DeWalt screwdriver with equally rated torque specs. My expectations were deflated when I couldn't even drive a 1/2" wood screw into a piloted hole in maple. The Bosch pocket driver has so many excellent qualities: perfect size, fit, weight, build quality, balance, and a convenient quick change chuck. I was willing to pay the extra $30 over the DeWalt screwdriver despite the soft case, but I couldn't justify keeping it just to hang curtain rods or other light duty tasks. It's professionally built but I'm hard pressed to think of any professional applications that a serious DIY'er might attempt with its power limitations.

Like the drill however advertising states drill 300 3 " screws with one charge......I have 2 batteries and I have never come close to the advertised statement..
br /Drill is light weight and easy to use but not as powerful nor does the batteries last as long as my ridgid 9.6 drill driver.

I like most Bosch tool. I own a construction remodeling company. We use a variety of cordless tools and have several Bosch tools. I am usually impressed with Bosch quality and performance.
br /In the case of this Pocket Driver, I am not as impressed. I find the batteries don't last as long as I had read they do. The worst part of the design (although admttedly I like the size and feel in my hand), is the poor design of the light. The LED light is a great idea, but when using it to install cabinets or use in tight-quarters where it is often dark, the light doesn't shine where the bit end is. I have tried it with 3 different sized (length) bits and none of them are well lit. If anything the light "blinds" you since it shines just off to the side of where the bit is.
br /Too, bad. It was a good concept. I think I will be pruchasing a new Lithium 12 volt Milwuakee (about the same size). Hope my experience with it is better that this one.

so light so solid so much power just love it
was not a big fan of the light, the angle is not perfect you have to use a longer extension to work best, but when you are in some shady areas it really works great

Not a bad little tool.
Pros:
Light weight
Compact
The light is a nice feature
Cons:
Not much power
Battery life is very low
Can't use conventional drill bits
Low RPM for drilling
A nice tool to have for small projects that don't require much power. for anything else, get a "real" driver.

This is a good unit that delivers enough power to drive deck screws and fits in small spaces. The LiOn battery systems works exceptionally well for such a small battery. The one complaint is that there is not chuck accessory supplied with the driver. I could do without the soft case and the few bits, but a chuck is a relatively costly add on to what should be expected to come with a drill.

Having had several drill drivers in years gone by,this one is the best yet for the volts and weight! The battery charge seems to last forever! The power is great and best of all is the weight. I do mostly cabinet work and it is a joy to use in tight places! I even use it to put my face frames together with pocket hole screws! I would strongly reccomend it to anyone!

i've had this drill for about 8 months. i tried to use it as much as i could but the driver can't drive 2"screws in to pine with out stopping even with a freshly charged battery. the description says it can drive 100 3" screws but it cant even do one. this isn't for anyone who works for a living, it might be good for a house wife to hang curtains.
Nice tool, but be realistic with expectations of a tool this size.

This is a nice tool, but very bare bones in terms of capability. First and foremost, this tool is intended primarily for driving, as Bosch calls it a Pocket Driver, not a drill/driver. It can be used in a limited capacity as a drill though since it has a drill setting on the clutch, and I will get into more detail later. I liked the Bosch Pocket Driver because of its relatively cheap price compared to other lithium ion tools out there. The tool charges fast and lets you know when it's out of juice, and that's by having no power suddenly. The soft case is nice and holds the charger and tool securely, but there is not much room to put in a bit or drive set.
The main problem with this tool is the chuck. It has that quick lock feature, not a traditional chuck. It only accomodates 1/4" universal hex shanks. Therefore, it's great if you're just driving, but if you're drilling, you need to buy dedicated drill bits that have the 1/4" universal hex shanks. These type of drill bits usually come in those combo sets. Anyone who's used drill bits with universal hex shanks knows that they are very fragile, and can snap easily. I've used these type of bits for drilling pilot holes into the tongue of hardwood floor boards and they've broken easily. I had to drill pilot holes into the tongues for the boards closest to the walls where my floor nailer could not reach, thus requiring me to use finish nails to hold the board in place. This tool is meant for that application, light duty drilling (ie. pilot holes), not stronger and larger diameter hex shank drill bits. This tool can probably handle larger drill bits with the 1/4" hex shank, but will drive very slowly. It has about 80 ft/lbs of torque, but very low rpm. Most corded or 12 volt drills drive faster with more torque.
I use it primarily for basic things around the house like installing mini-blinds. I installed the mini-blinds by first pre-drilling through the studs since the drywall itself cannot hold up the blinds. It did a good job of this, but since the corners are a tight space, there's chance that you can snap the hex shank drill bit when you try to back it out. Obviously, if you break the bit, you are "screwed" because you will need to locate the bracket at another location.
If you don't want to buy dedicated drill bits, you will need to buy a keyless chuck that has a hex shank. I bought one from Harbor Freight for only $4, but this chuck is primarily only for drilling pilot holes. Or, if you insist on using your round drill bits, you can buy adapters. Coastal Tool sells these. Driving-wise, the max capability for driving screws is slightly less than 1/4" x 3" as the brochure indicates.
In conclusion, the Pocket Driver is a great but expensive tool if you're just using it for general stuff around the house. And, it's a limited tool if you're a contractor or a serious do it yourselfer. You'll need more than this tool if you're the latter. I have an 18 volt Milwaukee Hammer Drill where the batteries gave up on me early, so I bought a corded Bosch Hammerdrill which is ample powerful, but very heavy and not for light duty use. Now that I have this Pocket Driver, I plan on buying a corded light duty (3/8") hand drill with a keyless chuck, because it would be able to handle my standard drill bits, has more power than the Pocket Driver, and is lighter and more reasonable than my Hammer Drill for everyday use. Only buy this Pocket Driver if you don't mind spending the extra money for such a novelty item. Anybody that thinks my review was not helpful, but doesn't offer a good counterpoint is just biased for this tool. I did end up keeping it, but it's a luxury item, not necessity.

All reviews do not HAVE to be positive. I'm simply trying to save someone who is considering this tool as their first purchase to FIRST consider an 18V tool. If readers don't think this this may be helpfull, fine, no problem.
I saw this unit at the local big box store. Liked the small package and apparent power. Bought it here on Amazon. Tried it out on some cabinet face frames I'm assembling (pocket screws in hard maple). I had to set the clutch on this tool to "max" to get the wood to screw together. Max allows no control as a slip clutch would, I have to drill until I feel the screw is holding proper torque based on the whine the motor makes while stalled. My 18V drill is set on 8 of 10 and provides perfect control with a slipping clutch. I'M NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL with this tool's power. I'll use this tool for certian jobs as it's light, etc but it's not an alternative to the power provided by an 18V tool. The light is not functional as it clearly aims below the screwhead. The light can be used in dark places but once you put the driver on the fastener, the light is obviously misplaced.
The Amazon cheerleaders keep singing their praise for this tool but I'd pass in favor of something more powerful.
